we booked this hotel last minute as we needed to be in the area and having stayed here now would not necessarily choose to return if an alternative was available. When we arrived mid afternoon after a long drive the hotel was locked up and we had to sit in the car to wait for the hotel to open. The... More

Called in without booking on our way home from a weekend away. Sunday lunch was delicious, generous servings of a good menu in a friendly atmosphere. Recommend for a family meal. Ample off road parking.

In horse drawn coaching days the Coaching Inns served travelers for an overnight stop. The Castle Coaching Inn sits on the side of the A40 trunk road at Trecastle between the market towns of Llandovery and Brecon it was once the main route for the Royal Mail Coaches travelling from Gloucester to Carmarthen. Laying in the Brecon National Park with... More

We stayed there from 12th of July through to 15th of July, we have stayed here before and loved it so much we though we would stay again. The hotel itself is lovely, and very comfortable and clean. There is free wifi with a good signal, and because we were there for business, that was a great boon. However, the... More

Nice hotel 12 miles from Brecon . We stayed in the two deluxe doubles, both were good sized, comfortable rooms with all you needed for a weekend stay. Food in the restaurant was lovely, if a little chaotic on a busy bank holiday Saturday night, breakfast was perfect, as much or as little as you wanted. Service from the team... More

We stayed here last weekend whilst on a weekend away walking. First impressions were tired and in need of lots of TLC, but overall this is a really nice place to stay. I cannot fault the service, welcome, food and drink at the Castle Coaching Inn. I would have to say that we were so pleased with the overall experience... More

I struggled with whether to give three or four stars, three and a half would be my ideal rating. Went to the Brecon Beacons last weekend with my boyfriend and stayed for two nights in the Castle Coaching Inn. Overall a great location, very friendly staff and excellent food both dinner and breakfast. After a tiring yet amazing walk all... More

Arrived after a long days walking. Parked in the car park and headed for the door marked "bar". It was locked so walked around to the front of the hotel which gave an opportunity to see the cracks and poor state of the rendering on the hotel. This did not create a good impression and I was thinking that maybe... More

The good points: good food, excellent (free) wifi, TV, good location for walking in the Brecon Beacons area (provided you have a car), plenty of hot water, easy to find, reasonable price, friendly enough. The less good points: the room we had, on the top floor, was rather "tired". Yes, the bathroom had a shower, loo and washbasin, and they... More

We stayed at the Inn with our two teen daughters while attending the Hay Festival about 35 minutes away. The owner was very helpful and friendly and has some interesting stories to tell. Both rooms were clean and in good condition. Our room was very large and has a separate sitting room with a huge TV. They have coffee and... More
