We popped in here as our local pubs were full on a Saturday night. The decor is ver nice and there are plenty of seats. The menu is not as expansive as I would like but there is enough to keep everyone happy. The prices are reasonable and a burger is £10 for example. The food was lovely and the... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in room 23...quite small but clean. Big problem was that there was no ventilation in the room. No window in the small bathroom & window in the room could not be opened - a sash window that had been painted over - so with no air con made it extremely hot and stuffy. Staff took... More

We stayed in room 21, it looked as if it had just been redecorated, it was very clean and all the fitting were new. The bed was huge and comfortable, as for the bathroom, it was excellent. There were four of us, we had a meal in the evening and we were not impressed. As for breakfast we were expection... More

We stayed in room 21, which is one of the fancier ones. It was well turned out and very clean. The bed was two singles joined together but this made for a huge bed so we weren't complaining. The room faced onto the statue of Wellington outside which is next to a taxi rank - taxis were there running their... More

Ex job retirement reunion at this hotel & for a meal at a local restaurant.Good check in & friendly staff behind the bar did this among their other duties, efficient & did what they had to do in a friendly manner. An old building with lots of doors & stairs up to room on 2nd floor.Room was modern & well presented &... Make sure you book one of the refurbished rooms. We didn't and regretted it (paper thin walls, horribly uncomfortable bed) but the staff couldn't have been more helpful and moved all our things to a 'new' room which was great. They are (as in all of Wales we have found) so friendly and so helpful which made our weekend stay... More

After reading the reviews ,we visited the Wellington with some trepidation. However I found it to be of a very acceptable standard. This age of building is always going to struggle to look anything other than old,but our room had been recently decorated and couldnt be faulted. The large downstairs bar was excellent as was the breakfast. It is all a little... More

The Wellington has bags of potential, but sadly the rooms do not do this lovely old building justice. We stayed for one night but certainly would not have stayed 2 and will not return in the future, either. The pub downstairs is well turned out. We checked in at the bar and were asked to pay upfront (before seeing the... More

The good points - very large, light, airy rooms in historic building in the centre of Brecon, reasonably priced. Free fast Wi-Fi. Varied selection of well priced food and drink. Kettle tea coffee in rooms. Not so good - scuff marks on the walls, two patches on the ceiling where leak damage had not been repainted, bathroom grout grotty and... More

Spend 1 night in the Wellington. (£100/pn) Room very small, bathroom very small, clean tidy no different to any proper travelodge. Had dinner in hotel down stairs, wife ordered paella, so ridiculously hot she couldn't eat it. Manager tried justifying it at first, took it away and acknowledged the mistake. My burger and chips was nothing to write home about,... More
