This was like stepping back into the 1980's. Smelt of cigarettes, carpets worn, wallpaper peeling, bit Fawlty Towers really. Breakfast was ok but not enormous. However, the bed was clean and comfortable. Glad we were only there one night though. You has to ask for a hair dryer to be provided but by the time I discovered this, my hair... More

We were greeted by the owner who was very helpful throughout our stay. Our room was basic but pleasant enough. Breakfast was excellent. We were tired and so decided to eat in the Landsdowne, particularly as we had had the most tasteless meal ever the evening before in another Brecon establishment. The evening meal was extremely good and, in addition,... More

Shabby not chic - this hotel had peeling wallpaper, stained carpet, cobbled together curtains and damp patches. On arrival some of us noticed a strong smell of nicotine. We asked Carol the owner if she allowed guests to smoke and she responded 'No' and indicated the 'no smoking sign' at the desk. When asked where the smell came from she... More

Could do with updating but so clean comfortable and homely - the breakfast is very substantial - self serve - plenty of tea and coffee - as much as you want - located in a quiet part of town yet only 3-4 mins walk to the centre of town - will definately be using again

We would just like to make clear that it is only fruit, cereals and juice that are self-serve. The hot food is cooked to order. More

The exterior could do with a bit of work but once inside it's much better with a cosy little lounge which doubles as a reception area. As she showed me to my room the proprietor explained that the front is Georgian with a Victorian back addition, evidenced by the unusual changes of level and turns in corridors. As with the... More

We chose to eat at the landsdown hotel for the two nights we stayed in Brecon the food was excellent tastie and good value. I admit that the lounge you sit in to choose your food needs up dating and redecorating but did not distract from the food. The staff are also veery pleasant.

I don't like writing negative comments on trip advisor , although this is written to help you out when sourcing a hotel in Brecon and possibly not make the mistake we made. We stayed at this hotel for two nights , we were really disappointed . We thought they just may have updated it from our last visit , which... More

We stayed there in June 2013 for one night when we went to a wedding. The owners are great, very welcoming and pleasant. Feels a bit like staying with a distant Aunt and Uncle. We had room 7 and it was a bit quirky. Kettle lead didn't reach the plug so we boiled it on the floor, not ideal if... More

The review was greatly appreciated. However we would like to make clear that Room 7 is a double room and not used as a family room, of which we have 2. None of our televisions are the latest flat screen as, when Wales went digital, and all sets were in good working condition, we decided on digi-boxes as to replace... More

Stayed in the Landsdowne twice during the summer. First time was at the end of June when we were over for a friends wedding and i have to say the hotel was lovely and comfortable. The women working in the hotel were very welcoming and made our stay a really enjoyable one. My room was on the ground floor and... More

I have a quite a few friends in Brecon and have been going there for a few years now. For this reason i wanted to stay in a hotel that was ideally located in the town with close proximity to the bars, shops and restaurants. The Lansdowne was therefore the perfect place to stay to suit the needs of both... More
