We called in to the pub looking for a light lunch and found it to be nicely done out. The staff were friendly and the menu had lots of interesting dishes. We chose from the light menu, my husband having the beef and red onion sandwich and I had the home made fish finger sandwich. Both came with a nice... More

We visited here as a group for a pre Christmas get together. We had 9 children with us who were accommodated on their own table right next to ours giving us plenty if room to spread out. The restaurant has been renovated beautifully and had a cosy country pub feel to it. The menu had a good choice. Many of... More

Three elderly gentlemen pulled in on the off chance for lunch today having failed to get into the original one of their choice because it was full. The ambiance as we walked in, not knowing what to expect, was good. The welcome from the young man behind the bar was warm and friendly and the young waitress who looked after... More

We had Sunday lunch here and we would probably need to know that they have raised their game before returning for this particular meal. (The more typical 'pub' food eg fish and chips etc looked to be a better standard.) Service was somewhat slow but our particular waitress was both pleasant and efficient. Our starters looked better than they ate.... More

My husband and I had a meal here last night, we couldn't fault it at all! After reading some of the reviews I'm left wondering if we are on about the same place!! Firstly, it's great to see what the new owners have done. The restaurant is a particular delight with subtle lighting, beautiful decor and a modern, crisp feel.... More

My partner and I went here on the recommendation of people we had spoken to saying that the food was good and yes it it but unfortunately that is where it begins and ends. The new owners have obviously spent serious money on refurbishment on this very old building and the decor is good but lacks warmth, atmosphere and character. It... More

Four of us went for the first time since refurbishment, and had a meal there. The food was very good and we all enjoyed it. Polite staff who didn't rush us to eat, they left just the right time between courses. They were very accommodating, because we ended up being the last people in the restaurant to leave. Definitely will... More

Refurbished and under new friendly management. My first impression was that it looks warm and inviting, the bar is in the middle with a larger dining area at the far end, hidden away. Unfortunately that room has terrible acoustics and with all the tables full, the notice is quite load. It didn't help that two people in a party of... More

We visited last week on their new opening, completely refurbished, looks quite nice, shame they didn't move the bar as you walk in the door and smack bang into the bar, not the best of welcomes and the bar is so tiny, but new owners seem nice. Couple of really good staff here as well, hope it does well for... More

Good and bad reviews on here which and I would say they are pretty justified BUT the lovely old pub is coming to the end of a full refurbishment and is under new management. It is not opening until tomorrow (22.08.14) but I had a sneek preview of the changes last weekend, and it looks fabulous! The new guys that... More
