So difficult to sum up this hotel in a dream setting. We were in Elizabeth suite with enormous window overlooking the lake, enjoyed from the window seat. Sadly there was a vase of dead flowers in the fireplace and the windows needed flies and cobwebs sweeping away! Breakfast was average, cereals could be better presented in large bowls rather than... This is a lovely old house, set in wonderful scenery. The staff were very nice but untrained. They tried their best. The food was good. The bathroom... More

Lots of grouse, partridges, pheasants, ducks, geese, cows, and wid life. Owls hooting in the evening. The staff were brilliant and food lovely and imaginative, presented as if a first class top London hotel but with bigger... More

We had one of the "suites"- Denbighshire- Lovely although handles inside the bathroom door would help!!. Wonderful views and plenty of space. Only 3... More

We stayed here for 2 nights, the staff were incredibly friendly and although we did not plan to eat in the hotel restaurant we were very tempted by the menu and we were not disappointed at all. The chef catered for our quite specific needs and we ate some very tasty and beautifully presented food. Our room did need a... More
