Most unfriendly "welcome". Gven the keys, told where to find a room and the parting shot from "mine host" was, "dinner is at 7.30, don't be late". Despite being told our room was in the Annex but light and airy, when booking, the reality was a dark room with minimal natural light and a very stong smell of damp or... more

Stayed overnight with my husband. We were upgraded to a lovely bedroom which had a wonderful vista . The bed was cosy and there was plenty of hot water and fluffy bathrobes to wear. Dinner was most enjoyable and Peter was an excellent host. The decor of the lounge and restaurant are contemporary in design with clean lines and earthy... more

My husband and I enjoyed a great weekend away at Tan-y-Foel to celebrate my Birthday. The location is amazing, quiet and tranquil, nestled into the hillside overlooking a valley. We stayed in the junior suite, with our own entrance, a gorgeous room with a huge king size bed, sofa and ensuite bathroom. The food and wine were equally fabulous, and... more

Stayed 1 night for our 15th Wedding Anniversary, looking for somewhere without corporate blandless, great food was our number 1 requirement and a nice room would be a bonus. Tan Y Foel did not disappoint. We stayed in room 6, fabulous views across the valley, and the bed was very comfortable. Great linen, feather pillows and a well thought out... more

Two members of my family and I stayed at Tan y Foel while touring Wales and we found it delightful. It was private, quiet, and the rooms and baths were very comfortable. The staff did not hover over you, which was a plus. It was all very relaxing. We dined there one night and had an excellent meal. I look... more

How much you like this hotel will depend on what you want from a hotel. If you want a warm welcome, smiley staff and a nice atmosphere, it is not for you. But if you don't care about any of that and don't mind stilted, overly formal service, then you'll probably enjoy it. We stayed for two nights. Our room... more

We stayed in room 5 which had a great view down the valley. Both the bedroom and bathroom were lovely. The food and wine experience here is amazing. We had 3 nights of beautifully cooked and presented food. And breakfasts are equally good! more

I have to recommend this country house. The hosts are so welcoming, the room was lovely and the food was just amazing - they should have a michelin star! The setting is perfect for exploring the Snowdonia national park. We will definitely be returning. more

Guest room comfortable and clean. Facilities try to leave the impression of being upscale, but in their efforts the host and hostess come across reserved, bordering on snobby. Breakfast foods were excellent, but the lack of back ground music makes the room stuffy. No internet facilities. more
