Family friendly hotel, with nice clean rooms and a very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast in hotel was well cooked and I really enjoyed the sausages. A big plus with this hotel is the stables bar and eatery which allows you the space and freedom, especially with a family, to eat outdoors and watch the world go... more

We didn't actually stay in the the Royal Oak but did spend an evening in there, first of all in the main bar/lounge area (nice and warm, with large cosy armchairs), and then in the 'Grill' restaurant (don't let the tacky neon 'Grill' sign put you off). Not wanting to get in the way of more serious, helpful accommodation reviews,... more

This hotel is within walking distance of all amenities in Betws-y-coed. We used this as a weekend base for climbing Snowdon which is about 30 minutes drive away. The rooms are medium-sized, clean and were en-suite. We stayed in the building adjoining the main hotel which we weren't aware of before arrival. The only concern here was that the hotel... more

After having left our original hotel early (see the horrendous review on the Legacy Royal in Llanberris) we needed to find a loacl hotel in Snowdonia for the night. The Royal Oak stood out, as at first glance it looked welcoming and luxurious. On arrival, we were offered a free ugrade from standard to deluxe, as it was off-peak and... more

Only stayed one night, but could have stayed in that bed all week. Had a mattress topper with duver and loverly silky soft bed linen. The room was very large. The room and bathroom were very clean. The reception staff were lovely. The price was right. Breakfast was nothing out of the ordinary but quite acceptable. Did not eat in... more

Stayed here for 4 nights with my wife and daughter. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A 30-45 minute drive from everywhere we wanted to go to {LLandudno, Conwy, Chester, Beaumaris, HolyHead Ferry}. Hotel itself is in a quiet village wit no major nightlife. If you are looking for a quiet break with good food and very friendly service, this is your... more

My husband & I celebrated our wedding here, staying for two nights and it has to be said the bed was so comfy we could have spent the whole stay there! The room was elegantly decorated, spacious, clean and comfortable. We dined the night before with family and friends in the Grill Bar and thoroughly enjoyed it. We then had... more

We booked a room for two nights in The Stables Lodge which is part of the Royal Oak Hotel (just next door). Even though the rooms are stated as being 3 * accommodation, after two nights in a tent prior to our arrival and experiencing the tail end of Hurricane Bill, the rooms felt more like 5* luxury!!!! The rooms... more

I left some items at the hotel and did not realise until some days later. The heplful friendly staff went to considerable trouble to find them for me and post them on at no cost! This was a typical of the friendly and helpful staff and service we received at the hotel. I have no hesitation in recommending it for... more
