We visit the area regularly and always try to take in the Sunday carvery at the Abbey Grange Hotel. Booking is recommended as it is VERY popular. The bar sells a wide selection of beers, some of which are brewed on the premises and are recommended. The carvery itself consists of at least four different types of locally sourced meat... More

I have stayed at this hotel often. It is clean, friendly and homely without any trace of "chain" feel to it, The food is freh and usually local. The egg layers walk about at the top of drive! Local meat and game dishes are out standing in my experience.

we were staying within walking distance of the hotel and went in once for a drink and once the next day for something to eat, it looks nice from the outside with a nice playpark and seating areas inside its not great the staff are not very helpful you feel like you are imposing by being there, the meal we... We came here for an evening meal while stopping in Llangollen. So we can't say what the rooms were like. It was a Wednesday night near the end of October. The barmaid was welcoming and besides the standard menu there was also a list of specials. We had driven past during the day and it seemed busy. That night we... More

Myself and two of my friends booked on-line to stay at the Abbey Grange, three rooms for four nights for a walking holiday. Later when we looked on tripadvisor we thought about cancelling. I rang the owners and they assured me that many of the issues were not as bad as they sounded. I am glad we did not cancel.... More

Hotel unfriendly, unhelpful, inconsiderate and downright disgraceful. We unfortunately booked for two nights, bed wasn't made on second day, bathroom (truly inadequate) not cleaned and our towels were left on the floor, the towels were paper thin and really old, rubbish bins not emptied. Why did we not complain I hear you ask? Well we had to complain on the... More

Location- excellent. Exterior- beautiful. Even the interior of the bar and restaurant ok. But...the worst food I have EVER eaten- working in hospitality I've eaten at lots of places! Somehow the soup had no flavour whatsoever and the garlic bread was both burnt and soggy! Rooms were large, beds comfortable. So if it is a nights sleep you want do... More

Stayed here for a weeks break, a truly relaxing experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and well maintained and in keeping within the original graded building. Food was homely and of a good standard. Have booked to stay again next month.

I booked this hotel late and so was short of choice. It is a very tired establishment, in need of TLC, old fashioned and although we believe the beer brewed on the premises is good, the hotel needs an upgrade. We booked 2 rooms, one of them had a faulty lock and the door jammed shut with people inside! The only... More

We booked last minute and paid on arrival for three nights. Room 7 was spacious, a good size for our family of four. However, directly above the window was a wasp or bee's nest. We found at least ten dead or dying wasps per day and on the third day I was stung. Fortunately our two and three year olds... More
