The hotel is beautifully placed for visiting Llangollen but then again the village is so small nothing is far away ! We have stayed there a number of times over the years but have had two stays quite recently. We like the hotel very much overall but it is a little frayed around the edges particularly in the furnishings in... More

I booked the hotel as a birthday treat for my girlfriend who wanted to get out of the city for a couple of days. The hotel is in a brilliant position overlooking the river and our bedroom was both spacious and comfortable. Close by are variety pubs and restaurants . The chap at reception was very welcoming and ensured we... More

Built in 1820, this was known as the King's Head. The gentleman at reception was most helpful, especially in pointing out landmarks, offering advice as to where to dine, and calling a taxi. Our room overlooked the River Dee, was clean and unique in that everything sloped - but that is to be expected in a nearly 200 year old... More

My husband and I stayed here during the Llangollen food festival, although we live fairly close we thought a night away and some drinks with our food would be nice. I read the reviews and thought that we wouldn't be getting a fantastic hotel but decided to go anyway. I have to say most of the reviews are accurate. Staff... More

It was cold and rainy when I checked in and heat was not on. I was going out dinner. Returned about 9 o’clock and still no heat so went to the front desk and they said they would turn it on, which they did. When I woke up in the morning, it was turned off again. The only heat in... More

My wife and I stayed in the Royal hotel to go to the food festival, booked in ,fine, room "looked great" view on the river out the window (see PIC) ,room clean and presentable ,but on returning from our day out to sleep the mattress was likened to a boucy castle/waterbed ,Bev slept on the floor , not good. Plus side... More

Stayed here as a treat with our friends, firstly there was no where to park so having paid for a car park up the road we asked the gentleman at reception where could we park there was as there no space in the car park across from the hotel and no space in front of the hotel anyway after an hour...
