I joined 11 of my male colleagues to a Management Training Weekend in Wales which meant we were up to white water rafting, canyoning and canoeing. All of us stayed in the Gales of Llangollen and literally took all but a few rooms. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the food was simply spectacular and the overall experience was... More

As part of small golf group stayed 3 nights in October. The rooms were typical B&B style, clean but basic. My room (4) was at the rear overlooking the car park and mainly very quiet. Fine for single occupancy. The hotel could save money by less heat being pumped out from the many radiators - always a feature of hotels... More

We travel to Llangollen regularly for a relaxing day out, but had never before used this eatery. We soon found out what we had been missing, as the welcome we got was first class, cheerful and friendly. We settled, on this occasion, for sandwiches and a few drinks, as the slow cooker was on at home for our evening meal.... More

Surprise birthday treat from my husband. Having eaten at the gales previously, booked into the suite for the night. The suite was very high quality. Ate in the Resturant, the food an wine choice was sublime an the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We will be back!

Stayed a couple of nights, pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and the welcoming service. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated, and on the top floor fairly quiet. Continental breakfast was really just cereal and toast, with a bit of ham and cheese thrown in. They obviously want you to pay extra for the cooked options, which... More

After help from the Tourist Information Office we found a room in Gales of Llangollen. Large, spacious, old fashioned, comfortable rooms at a price that was suprisingly low. Continental breakfast was included and for an extra charge a good choice of cooked breakfasts was available. We ate in the wine bar downstairs and bought wine from the wine and paraphenalia... More

An excellent hotel situated in the centre of Llangollen. Quality wines, beers and great choice of food all served up by friendly and knowledgeable staff with hands-on owners. The bar/restaurant area had just the right ambience, look and comfort. Stayed in the courtyard cottage at the back of the hotel and found it spacious and well presented. Overall thoroughly recommended.

*** This review is for Cottage 21, own and ran by Gales (not the hotel) *** We stayed a couple of nights in August 2014 at Cottage 21, just down the road from the Gales Hotel in Llangollen. Its a great little cottage with lots of room for all the family. With 2 doubles and a single you could fit... More

This little hotel is situated in the heart of Llangollen, and has parking available. You have to bear in mind that it is in a very old building, and the rooms are over a wine bar and restaurant. The floors are sloping and uneven, and the floorboards creaky, and some of the doors don't close properly, but those things are... More
