It is in a lovley place with beautiful surrounding countryside. I suppose in the summer it was lovely. The building is clearly very old with creaky floors etc. The bar area was stark, cold and small. More than adequate for a relaxing weekend. Warm welcome by an informative swedish gentleman who runs the guest house with family. Beautifully cooked evening meal and equally good full welsh breakfast. Dated decor but this adds to its charm...some music would have been beneficial in the dining room...comfortable bed. Overgrown but pretty garden...a real country cosy retreat...would recommend.

This property is a guest house and not a hotel.it is a unique place run by I think two sisters it is off the beaten track and pubs and cafes in which to eat are spare. I must submit at least 200 characters for this review so now I am waffling.

Like many others, it seems we discovered the Golden Pheasant through Travelzoo. Finding it wasn't easy with a number of signs scattered around but none of them pointing anywhere. We stayed for one night at The Golden Pheasant, booked using a travel zoo deal. Our room was clean and comfortable, only negative was that the shower water pressure was poor (Room 18). The staff are welcoming, courteous and friendly, we booked on a Travelzoo deal, but had to pay an extra £20 as they only had a 'garden room' available. This is the second time we have been to the Golden Pheasant. Both times we enjoyed the peaceful location, good food and pleasant staff. Although we agree that the building needs updating and the owner knows this. When we first arrived at the Golden Pheasant both my wife and I thought, 'hmm not sure about this place'. How wrong we were. We recently spent a couple of nights at the Golden Pheasant and had a very pleasant stay at this quiet but beautiful location, which is wonderful for exploring Llangollen, the countryside and North Wales coast.
