Had great fun staying here, with the pub downstairs and a common room with cooking facilities. Perfect for our group of 5, the rooms have been recently been renovated and double room with ensure was spacious! The staff were also super friendly

It is clean, the bed linen, the shower, toilets, carpet. The staff are polite and shown me around. The price, £16 a night, for a clean bed is good. but I have paid the same in other places and it's been somewhere I would take my mum too. Sleeping, well I was tired so out like a light. The Location, fantastic,... More

Stayed for 1 night as we were climbing sugarloaf mountain. Arrived and shown to the room, booked a room for 4 and was given one for 7, these were bunkbeds, the bedding was clean although stained with bleach. The room was very poor with a missing window pane, covered with a piece of cardboard !!! We left the room at... More

Don't be under any illusions. This is not your average Best Western Hotel. If you are expecting a comfortable relaxing stay, this is not your place. It is basic at best, and well suited to backpackers looking for a cheap bed in the dry. It has a small and limited bar, darts and pool table. Two rooms are dorm type... More

I recently booked a twin en suite room at this hotel. I appreciate 39.50 in total is reasonable and chose it as I was not able to get any other accommodation in town for that night. The pros: the guy who greeted us at the bar was friendly, the bed was ok and the shower worked. The cons: rotten windows... More

Stayed frequently in this hostel on hiking holidays in abergavenny, which is 10 mins walk from central town and right by the abergavenny station. Basement kitchen and laundry, it has cereal and toast for breaki and help yourself tea. Functioning pub and games area. Commands nice views from the first floor. It's in an old building, so of course it's... More

An old railway hotel. Now a pub with hostel attached. Friendly service with a good pub atmosphere near Abergavenny railway station. Short wall from the town centre and a good base for an activity break. Plenty of places to eat so didn't use the kitchen . Cash only.

You have to stay at this hostel if you want to stay at a "Welsh" backpackers. Everything about it is great. It's in an old building, so of course it's quite run down, but the experience of it all is worth putting up with faulty windows and uneven flooring. The beds are really comfortable and the showers are hot. The... More

Ten of us stayed at this hostel from Friday 4 May to Monday 7 May so we had a base for walking in the Black Mountains. The first problem we encountered was one of parking. ( not a problem for true hikers or overseas backpacking visitors) There is only free parking space for 3 average size cars directly in front... More

I stayed here with my boyfriend recently & overall it was a lovely hotel attached to a pub which was also very pleasant. We stayed in the only double room with en-suite for £40/night. The room was very comfortable & clean. However, unfortunately it rained during the night & we were kept awake by the very loud dripping from the... More
