Stayed 1 night and this place certainly made us feel welcome and the place was very clean with friendly staff. The room suited our needs and at the price cannot be. Slept like a log and the breakfast was superb. Will defiantly be going back and this time I will be taking the dogs as they are welcome as well.

Ok this place is not in prime condition, a little tired but really nothing to complain about . We stayed in room 12 which was spacious warm and quiet considering there was a band playing in the function room below. Would not rule out staying here again. Breakfast was above average but DIY for toast, some instructions would be handy... More

Stayed for 4 nights and was made very welcome. The room was small with some dated decor and furnishings, but was warm and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful when aswering queries. Delicious home cooked food, I ended up eating in the hotel every night, plenty of choices of meals available. Would stay again.

The Swan is a big traditional hotel which is perhaps less grand it was once but very stayable in. I was on the top floor... no lift.... but I was offered [and declined with thanks] to have my bags carried up for me. Perfectly good room and [despite other reviewers] I had no problem with traffic noise even though I... More

Have stayed here several times. Good location in town. Room was clean and tidy but bathroom lacked a mat when showering. Wasn't able to open bedroom window so very warm over night. Breakfast was a cross between self service and waitress with flasks of tea and coffee and a toaste which was a bit strange. Was happy with facilities for... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here as we were playing at a venue up the road. The hotel had good parking facilities for guests. A little disappointed when we arrived as there was nobody on reception to check us in and we had to wait a while after ringing the bell. The room itself was a little dated although the... More

My partner and i stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst attending a wedding in Abergavenny. The hotel was very cheap and only cost £60 per room per night so i wasn't expecting too much. The hotel was in a good location on the edge of town and there was ample parking to the rear, the gent who checked... More

Arriving at the hotel after 10pm, I was welcomed by Jess, the receptionist, who was also doubling as barmaid. The bar was quiet but apparently had been quite lively earlier in the evening. After depositing my bag in my room, I spent a pleasant 30 minutes chatting to Jess, and Ray, who does the catering. The room was comfortable, the... More

Stopped there on the 8th / 9th September while working on the Tour of Britain. Found it to be friendly, clean and staff very helpful. Decent meals and drinks available till late. Quite a few rooms booked up so its a popular hotel for stop overs. Road side rooms can be very noisy and if you are on the top... More

We came in late and the reception was very welcoming, and offered a great rate for the night. We took the room and were pleasantly surprised as we were not sure what to expect. On our way out for dinner the women working the bar gave us many excellent restaurant suggestions, and later on a nice evening stroll to go... More
