Stayed for 1 night with a friend to attend a party in the local area. I have read the reviews that already summarise what's on offer. It is more of a pub with accommodation. The staff were excellent, giving advice, offering us a room specific to our needs, option of a late check out and there is a night porter... More

Stayed at this hotel for work a few months back. I have stayed in a lot of hotels for work so I kind of had an idea of what to expect based on the price. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I received great service from the lady who served breakfast. The only downside to this hotel was... More

Random visit to Abergavenny, decided to have a carvery, first impressions weren't great. There was nobody to greet us as we walked in, had to find our own table, told we were able to sit 'wherever'. Needed a completed refurb, food tasted average at best (think it was frozen food) complete over all presentation was terrible including the food. could... More

We stayed one night here as rates very reasonable and Angel is not so reserved for special occasions. Room once we got keys was on third floor with just stairs so glad we were both fit, mind you noise from ground floor bar meant that was no bad thing. I popped across the road to Aldi's fro drinks in the... More

Spent 2 days here during the food festival. Room was as basic as you could imagine. Cramped, with broken, cheap furniture and a tiny en-suite squeezed into the corner. The bar areas are dominated by tv sports which make for a lively (and noisy) atmosphere. Other guests have commented upon the noisy bands that play on weekends, so if you're... More

I live too near to use as an hotel, but regularly call in with my dog for coffee, meals and a drink or two, especially on a warm summers day to people watch on their outside seating area. It's not posh, but it's clean, friendly and the staff are most approachable and accommodating, not failing to supply water for my... More

We booked this hotel as it was close to waterfalls and the mountains which we wanted to explore with our two dogs and the hotel were brilliant in accepting them. We stayed 3 nights and it's clean and comfortable , everyone was friendly, staff and the locals and we had a great time there :-). I think of it as... More

After roughing it for four days at the splendid Green Man festival, my family and I decided we needed a hot, fulfilling meal to set us up for the journey home. Abergavenny was a half hour drive away and upon arriving, we quickly found a public car park by the bus station and adjacent to this, The Swan hotel which... More

There is a well attended bar downstairs with boisterous locals but not audible at all where we were. Our room was large and comfortable. The breakfasts were ok but nothing remarkable. Overall an ordinary sort of pub with rooms to stay upstairs. No waiters with white coats...but you pay for that sort of thing..a highlight was when I was sitting... More

Every pub and hotel seemed to be booked when we arrived so were fortunate that we got a room at the Swan. Very basic room that was adequate, however, the noise from the band downstairs in the pub did making sleeping difficult, however, we had been warned. We were overlooking the main street so when the pubs closed it became... More
