After staying at Blacklion, I truly believe BnBs are the way to go for those travel weary jet setting globe trotters. The rooms are nice and cosy, clean beds, hot showers, wifi(although signal was weak in room 3). To top it all, the owner was very warm and friendly. What was supposed to be just a night's rest in the... More

Excellent stay overall, absolutely faultless. Hazel and Mike are kind and generous and make you feel like your in a home from home. We were over for business for seven days and all our needs were catered for. Highly recommended for any sort of trip...

I stayed here for two nights while in Abergavenny for a business trip. Hazel went out of her way to make sure my stay was comfortable and really went above and beyond providing me with everything I needed for my stay. The room was very clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious! I highly recommend this place!

Booked as advertised as 4* the Hosts Mike and Hazel Gray may be four star entertainers but the room rate is overpriced and the noise from the road and them constantly bickering and rowing caused a very uncomfortable stay

Very noisy as it is situated on a very busy main road a and the in house entertainment was't very good. By entertainment I mean the rows between the Owners which we could clearly hear, which made our stay awkward and uncomfortable. We had booked for 4 nights but left after the second. Explained to the owners why we were... More

I was blown away by the willingness of Hazel at the Black Lion Guest House to go above and beyond the call of duty to reunite me with my debit card when I left it behind on checking out. Otherwise room was very well appointed, only small complaint would be that it wasn't very well sound-proofed and you could hear... More

We practically had a suite here as our "room" consisted of a small foyer, ensuite facility, large sitting room with comfortable furniture, & bedroom! Our hostess was extremely warm & welcoming, breakfast was very good & we appreciated that we could walk to an historic church & the town castle, which was a lovely ruin with beautiful views of the... I live in Abergavenny and was expecting some visitors who asked me to book a room for them. I originally went to the Kings Arms but at £85 was a bit out of our budget. So I did a bit of research and booked a room at the Black Lion. I booked via email and was told the only room... More
