Peaceful, historic, unique, comfortable and a million spiral stone stairs. Good 'pub grub' at night, a full plate at breakfast and amazing scenery. A perfect weekend thanks to all the team!

My partner and I recently stayed at the Priory Hotel for some much needed time to ourselves. It did not disappoint. I found myself continually delighted with the whole experience and our stay will remain filed in amongst my fondest memories. I had met the indomitable Sheila before, and on that occasion didn't quite know how to take her directness...... More

Friendly staff, simple but excellent food, a great bar and a stunning setting. There's no TV, WiFi or mobile phone signal, but you come here to get away from all that. If the weather's good there are superb hill walks from the front door, and if it it isn't browse the book shops in Hay On Wye. You have to... More

Fabulous two night stay in most incredible location. Very friendly service from the staff who have been there for years and clearly remember their regulars. Good home cooked food in the bar. Very tight spiral staircase to reach rooms so not suitable for small children or drunk people!

This must be the most romantic spot in Britain. If you are looking for a chic, lifestyle hotel with canapes on skewers, this is obviously not the place. But nothing beats it for its beauty, location, hills and history. Not to mention the fantastic service from the lady who showed us our room, and served us breakfast and dinner at... More

We've stayed at the Priory Hotel a couple of times, and each trip was absolutely amazing. The tower rooms reached by stone spiral stairs are a real treasure, and it feels as if you're travelling back in time with Dr Who & his Tardis to the 12thCentury. The breakfast with smoke salmon & scrambled eggs was marvellous, as was the... More

We've visited here on numerous occaisions and have yet to be disappointed.Great beer, great food and unique accomodation, (the staff are unique too!). The scenery is spectacular and it's just far enough off the beaten track to feel nicely isolated. Check out the pony trekking available at the farm next door, a fantastic way to see the valley from a... More

What a great privilege it is to stay at a 12th-century priory! We always seek out places to stay that have history and character, and except for some castles in Scotland where we have stayed, nothing comes close to this fabulous little hotel. One quickly runs out of tempting adjectives: remote, serene, scenic, historic, atmospheric, romantic. It truly is a... More

Back for an August Bank Holiday weekend and relieved to find the (fairly) new owners have resisted the temptation to make changes or seek to drag this unique place into, ooh, the 17th century. I cannot begin to describe the sense of joy with which I am filled whenever I stay here. One improvement worth mentioning is that the bar... More
