This is my third stay in room no 2 of the tower at Llantony Priory . The peace and quiet after London madness is so refreshing and relaxing. Just after a few hours you start to feel human again. I highly recommend staying here, great staff, lovely food and walking from the doorstep.

... from Royal weddings and similar events which everyone insists you should watch. We've been here several times over the last decade, and little had changed when we last visited in 2011. This means it is as good as it ever was. No Broadband, mobile signal, or any other media distractions. Just good food, good beers, local character and quiet.... More

A group of us stayed here for a dinner followed by a walk in the Black Mountains. Historic hotel, food was nice with a pate starter which was great -- This is from someone who has eaten all over the world. They might think about cutting the menu down and focusing on what they do really well, the local produce.... More

This is not a generic chain hotel, the reviewers who say its run down & dated clearly have no idea of what to expect within a Grade 1 listed building & you can't just stick a bathroom in anywhere you fancy or change the colour of the walls with modern paint in these places. We had an amazing stay in... More

We stayed here last summer, and of all the places we visited in three weeks in Great Britain, this was the most special. A magical setting, and the hotel is so much more genuine and IMHO nicer than if it got tarted up. If you are the sort of person who wants tv, wifi, hairdryers, this is not for you.... More

This place desperately needs some tlc, its such a pity that its cold, draughty and dark. Yes, it takes you back to the 1400's and you can almost imagine what it must've been like all those years ago...... cold, draughty and dark. Why oh why do they insist on putting guests into the top room, where they have to risk... More

We called her for a meal on a Saturday and could not be disappointed by what we had received. It made a lovely change to get a full plate of hot food with vegetable instead of just peas or baked beans to accompany my meal as I had experienced previously at another local eatery. I would recommend here again.

We had a super weekend at the priory. The setting is second to none and even if the place is not that luxurious - the bathroom could do with a makeover - the atmosphere and the very fact that we were staying in a medieval tower more than made up for any shortcomings. Breakfast was fine, the staff were friendly and... More

This gains points for the setting and the friendly staff but..... In a steep valley, with a ruined priory, sheep baaing all around and not a lot else - perfect. However, what a wasted opportunity. In the middle of farm land, the area is thick with produce - sheep are everywhere, shops in nearby towns sell lovely local ales and... More

I have been at this place before. I love the location and the general idea of this place. However, little effort has been done to make this place nice. The common shared bathroom needs a complete overhaul. Painting is also a good idea. Some maintenance is also required. The place is unique though, and does have a certain Charme. The... More
