We stayed here for two nights and immediately regretted booking it as soon as we arrived. We had hoped for a decent pub with charming rooms. What we go was a room that stank of well, being polite, "bad drains". The room was tiny and the decor tired. The window was broken. When I went down to the pub (not... More

We stayed at the King's Head hotel for a two night mini break sunday to tuesday. We found the hotel on the internet and booked via phone. No deposit was necessary which made us happy plus the staff pre-warned us that they don't serve dinner Sunday night. On arrival to Abergavenny it was a nice 10 minutes walk to the... More

Spent three nights at the King's Head in July 2010, and would definitely return. Ruth and Ken are excellent hosts. Check-in was quick. The room was clean and larger than I had anticipated. The Welsh breakfasts were tasty and substantial, and provided a great source of fuel for hiking the various peaks in the area. As the stay coincided with... More

We stayed one night in Abergavenney with our 2 year old. The hotel is on the side of a pub but opens out into a large guest house and lovely little restaurant. When we arrived we were welcomed warmly and while I moved the car to a local car park (you can only park outside from 5pm, though local pay... More

I stayed at the King’s Head for 3 nights (Sat / Sun / Mon) in September 2009. I liked it, but it wasn’t quite what I’d hoped for. It's clearly kept with care and love, but my room was a little more basic than I'd hoped and the pub was not appealing to me. Location: Excellent!! Right in the center... More

Arrived late and received a very warm welcome from the manager. Lovely restaurant with excellent choice on menu, with friendly atmosphere also. The room was far above the standard i expected, en-suite was very clean and tea and coffee facilities in the room. Disco in the bar, again with a lovely friendly atmosphere. 5 out of 5!! More

Only stayed for 1 night but could happily have stayed longer. The room was very clean and comfortable (room 6) at the rear of the hotel/pub. We stayed on a Friday night so there was live music in the bar from 9pm. Really enjoyed the singing, great atmosphere. Im a veggie (and doen't like eggs) so Im usually disappointed with... More

Stopped at the Kings head begining of March, we stopped off on the way to a family wedding at Bristol. Have stopped in Abergavenny before but this hotel was not open then. Had looked on the trip advisor site and the Kings head had good reviews and they were spot on. The hotels location is central and has recently opened... More

We're a young couple and wanted to spend the weekend between Christmas and New Year in Abergavenny to visit the town and do some hill walking. After spending hours on the internet looking for a decent hotel/B&B in our price range (around £65 a night, I know, a bit low for a room in Britain these days...), I finally booked... More

We've just returned home from a two night stay at the King's Head Hotel and would highly recommend it. We were travelling with a groups of friends and all of us were impressed with this venue. The rooms have just been recently refurbished and were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. We have a baby and the staff were always friendly,... More
