Very Friendly staff, Great location, There was some building works going on whilst we stayed, but they never bothered us. The room was a recent refurbed room and tastefully done. Our room was over front door and it could be a little noisey at night with people coming and going from the very busy bars below, also you could be... more

A group of friends and I recently stayed at the black boy inn on a mountain climbing trip to Snowdonia and it was an excellent experience. We stayed in room 23, which had recently been refurbished and was up to good 4* standard, let alone that of an inn. We had a large 42 inch plasma screen and brand new... more

The newly refurbished bedrooms are spacious and nicely decorated although the ongoing refurb means that the whole place smels of paint and you have to negotiate the builders junk to get to you room for now. A lively pub full of real Cofi (Caernarfon) character - so why are they promoting a Full English instead of a Welsh breakfast and... more

This very old (c400 years) hotel is situated within the city walls and is undergoing renovation, which did not trouble us at all. We were allocated one of the updated rooms, which was a large en-suite attic room that had been appointed and decorated to a very good standard, including original beams. So much better than the standard "box". We... more

Stayed over for 1 night recently. It was such a great find! The refurbishments have been carried out very tastefully and well in keeping with the style of the property. The room was so comfortable and had all the mods & cons, but still retaining the charm and romance of such a historic property. The food was excellent, the staff... more

The room was incredible - really beautifully decorated, equipped with pretty much anything you might need and very comfortable. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. The location central - perfect to see the castle. I would definately stay there again. more

Room was very good indeed, newly renovated, very clean. Bed really comfy. Lovelly olde worldly pub. Couldnt fault it. Only wished we'd been able to stay longer. more

We've stayed here a few times before - and have always found this family run hotel and staff both friendly and welcoming. IMHO the black boy is a rare gem; one of the very few traditional hotels left in Wales. We stayed in a recently renovated room and must say: "what a transformation!" The room retained the 'oldie worldie' character... more

I was afraid to go to the Black Boy In after reading the reviews here from last year. But I'm glad I did. The rooms have been newly refurbished are are lovely! The bed was new and very comfortable.I had an en suite which was spotless, bright, modern and cozy but still olde style. The bathroom was top notch. The room... more

Booked direct with hotel having found it on welsh historic inns website. Arrived Sunday evening intending to stay till Wednesday night and checked in. The smallish double room was made smaller by the washbasin being in the room (rather than in the bathroom). The TV was next to the headboard needing some contortion to get a good view!! The food... more
