The staff at the Black Boy Inn, especially John, made what could have been a disaster into the best part of our trip. We met friends in the BBI's pub having chosen it by a total stab in the dark us coming from Ireland and them coming from Oxford (though we all live in California). My inital impression of the... Stayed with my elderly mother in May and were given the 'accessible' rooms in the courtyard wing. Very suitable, easy to use with small kitchens and easy facilities. Great bar with good beer for me, good restaurant for us both. Some really good fish. Mother had a Dover Sole and said it was one of the best she has had.... More

We ate at this hotel at lunchtime on a Saturday. The staff were really helpful and polite, the ambience in the restaurant was lovely. The best part was the food, I can not praise it enough, yum, yum, yum. We were so full we could not manage a desert, but we would definitely return and would recommend this restaurant to all our... We were looking for a an eatery not showing the World Cup final and stumbled across this diamond of a pub tucked away within the castle walls. Try the 'lobscows' a traditional welsh stew. Excellent service and food. '

Stayed for one night with my wife whilst on business. What an absolute fantastic establishment from the moment we checked in (our room was in the annexe about a ten second walk from the main building, were given the private car park code (fantastic as parking is at a premium in Caernarfon), shown to our room and was it beautiful.... Great rooms, perfect location, lovely staff, a little wait for a table for dinner but that only proves how popular this place is so was more than happy and was well worth the wait as the food was fantastic! As was breakfast! Cannot recommend enough, thank you all at the black boy inn for a perfect stay.

The point of the wait because of the popularity of the Inn , is a wonderful point .This iis very much the story of the Inn ,it is difficult to walk in and get a table at peak hours ,when this does not happen i would be concerned we have got it all wrong.Thank you so much for the review. More

We walked past The Black Boy while staying in Caernarfon and it looked very appealing, a quick check on Trip Advisor and it looked like a great place to visit for a meal. We had a quality meal on a busy Sunday night, but it was the World Cup final so maybe that so why it was so busy, managed... More

We stayed at the Black Boy for four nights last week and have nothing but praise for the Inn. we had a room in the newly completed Ty Dre annex and it was literally a home from home! clean, comfortable and well equiped yet only a few yards from the main Inn. All the staff were welcoming and cheerful and... More

We booked an "executive double room" for approx. 90 GBP per night in July; it was certainly worth the price. Our room was on the 2nd floor (top floor), on the front side of the building, right above the main entrance. The room had some delightful 16th century elements, but it had been recently renovated — everything in our room... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor. We offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal timesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00P.M. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30P.M.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30P.M. Table allocation after 6.30.Pm. Will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. To arrange a table reservation (up to 6.30P.M.)In peak season we cannot accept table bookings at all due to the volume of trade ... more   less
