As all the other reviews here have pointed out the owners were lovely, bubbling with personality and hugely welcoming. It is a shame however that they have to work in a hostel that for some reason the YHA don't appear to consider worthy of investment. The picturesque location, beautiful building, and surrounding mountains generate opportunity for a wonderful facility, but... More

Its want you want from a hostel. Can't do enough for you staff, really friendly, look after you. Clean bedding, quiet room for a good nights sleep on a reasonable bed. Powerful shower to wake you up in the morning followed by a decent breakfast, cereal, juice, tea, cooked breakfast. Then if you booked up for a 2nd night, soup,... More

The tree lined driveway takes you upto the main house which is located with stunning views to the lake opposite the house and the surrounding mountains gives this house a majestic feel. However, the interior doesn't quite live upto similar expectations. It's in need of a major overhaul, the bunk beds are too small for an adult to sleep comfortably.... More

Stayed here recently for 3 night for a planned ascent of Snowdon via the Rangers Path. The setting and views were amazing. Room and communal areas a in very good conditions, as expected. The manager, Corina, was brilliant, helpful and very funny. Look forward to visiting again!

Context: We're a South African family of 4 on a tight budget and were looking for a comfortable, reasonably priced place in the Welsh mountains to overnight and possibly do a short hike from while en route from Scotland to the ferry across to Ireland. Getting there: We were driving a hired car and brought a GPS with us, so... More

Stayed here recently for a planned ascent of Snowdon via the Watkin Path. Stayed at the outbulding by the car park - en suite room for 8 of us - typical YHA bedding and everything was clean. Corina the manager was fantastic and good fun - very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was the only minor point that a couple of... More

Arrival at night was fine, however seeing the location and the Lake the following morning was breathtaking. On arrival, staff are very helpful! You could expect this type of service in a 4* hotel. Poor cooking facilities and no hot water. Cooking chilled sausages took 45mins and after a lack of hot water meant could not wash up efficiently. All... More
