Great place to stay if visiting Snowdownia. The hostel is located on a small hillock with stunning views of Llyn Gwynant. Welcoming staff and good communal facilities - kitchen, dining area, lounge, etc. The bedroom facilities were good (clean sheets, etc.) but the ambience coould do a bit better. On the other side however it is a real value for... More

This hostel is a beautiful old house in a brilliant location overlooking Llyn Gwynant and the surrounding mountains. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful and the common areas were spacious and well-maintained (communal kitchen tiny but ok). The real let-down was the bedroom, which was seriously grim. The walls, ceiling and windows were covered in black mould, the bedding... More

What an amazing location - this YHA is situated in an old Victorian type building situated in stunning surroundings. If you don't mind basic accommodation, this is most definitely the place to stay at £20 / night. The staff were lovely, chef had a sense of humour and Michele was highly professional in sorting out our booking when Booking.Com messed... More

Wow was the reaction on seeing the setting for this hostel! It is in a beautiful building built in the 1800s and view across the lake is tranquil and breathtaking. We used this hostel as a basis for exploring Snowdonia and it served its purpose well. THINGS TO NOTE: My only real complaint was the lack of light beside the... More

We stayed 2 nights in a 2 bed (bunkbeds) private room, lovely location opposite the lake. We received a warm welcome from Simon, had fabulous meals and full Welsh breakfast both days. Everyone was so friendly and pleasant. Lovely garden and giant's chair to sit in and view the lake, woods and mountains. Room was very hot but was extremely... More

After 24 hours of walking, we staying here as a group of 18, it was - hot food, comfy beds and great staff! Excellent place to stay! I would recommend staying here if you are in the area or if you are doing the 3 peak challenge Particular thanks to the chef who turned around a great meal and let... More

I recently stayed there at the end of completing the 3 peaks challenge in a group of around 20. By the time we arrived it was 9pm and had missed dinner. The manager went out of his way to make us food and within the hour had prepared much needed hot food for 20 which was homemade and tasty. The... More

I stayed here after finishing the 3 Peaks Challenge on Saturday evening and it was bloody brilliant. It was just a short drive from Snowdon and, despite arriving later than planned due to a minibus breakdown, the service that we received was first class. There was a group of more than 20 of us and we were all pretty excited.... More

I drove to Bryn Gwynant from Capel Curig and so had seen the valley where Llyn Gwynant lies coming over the pass. Stunning is the only word for it. The hostel lies towards the far end of the lake but before the village itself. There is great access to the lake and the walking track the takes you around it... More

I spent two nights at Bryn Gwynant last week. My plan was to climb three peaks in the Bedgelert region. The Hostel was ideally placed so I booked, never having used this Hostel before. Firstly, the location was absolutely stunning, to think that someone actually owned such a place at one time as a place to live is unbelievable. The... More
