The first thing you experience when arriving at the Abbeyfield Hotel is complete indifference. After that you get conflicting information mixed in with a bit more indifference. The room really was very poor indeed. Damaged furniture, peeling wallpaper, bed springs poised to dig into you, sheets so thin they are almost transparent (and have no elasticity at the corners) a... We stayed overnight on the way to Anglesey and were very impressed by the warm and friendly welcome. The atmosphere was great, as was the bar food. The prices were reasonable and the portions very generous. It is obviously a popular place for locals to eat and there was a large family group in following a christening. The hotel could... More

I liked the sound of his place from the reviews and the bar menu looked superb - plus the website is quite impressive but I think the photographer had a soft focus lens! While the staff are very helpful and the food is excellent the hotel itself is old and creaky. Every floorboard complains, every door creaks and the heating... More

We have just spent a weekend at the Abbeyfield. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and pleasant. The food was good, the steak pie definitely lives up to it's reputation! The family room was clean and comfortable. This is a good base for exploring the area and we would definitely return.

Our room for three adults was warm, comfortable and clean and had all the facilities we needed (TV, tea and coffee, toiletries etc.). The staff were friendly. The lounge bar was cosy and warm. The food was very good with a range from light snack meals to full dinners. We had a full meal which was well cooked and very... More

I saw this hotel on trip advisor and decided to try it out. Before trying it out, I called them to enquire about costs and what the hotel had to offer. Apparenly i spoke to the owner which i thought was particularly rude throughout the whole conversation and felt extremely rushed. Finally, I did not decide to put my money... More

Although the owners are helpful, friendly and the food is good (I can not say that for breakfast though), the rooms are depressing with their horrible carpets, creaky beds, very basic bathrooms while the train seems to pass almost through the room. Very, very.. rudimentary, but I am not sure if there are better options in Bangor.. Are there?

Stayed at Abbeyfield Hotel in early Jan 2012, the room we stayed in No 1 was huge, and could do with a little updating but, it was very clean and warm, the shower was always hot and again the bathroom was very clean. We ate in the hotel for three nights and the food was always very tasty, as were... More

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel normally has a 23:00 check-in deadline but were quite accommodating when we told them we'd be there sometime before midnight. The hotel itself feels is quite dated. The room had a horrible pink bathroom bathroom suite, and the bed clothes looked like they'd come from the 70s. Still, the room was clean,... More

We loved Wales! The Abbeyfield Hotel is in a beautiful country setting. We had a car and it was a perfect spot to stay for visiting the Snowdonia park. We drove all over the area visiting the small villages, and castle ruins. We had a family room that was spacious and it had an ensuite bath with a great shower.... More
