On booking into this hotel, we had to pay an extra £10 per person (12 people) deposit for the room keys. The room we got, was probably the best of the bunch, however it is dire. The carpet is full of stains, the walls are dirty, on one of the plug sockets was, what we thought looked like entrails. The... More

Ok, the positives....great location for train station and the breakfasts are enormous. Now the rest......room small and noisy, quite tatty. Thin walls and very creaky floors mean plenty of noise. Bathroom area smelt of damp. My room was at the back and I was woken by someone emptying all the previous nights bottles from the bar into the skip at... More

I was here a year ago, and the hotel is still OK. The price hasn't changed, the staff are still friendly, though on this occasion I was leaving early, so didn't have breakfast. The music in the bar was really loud when I arrived, but I couldn't hear it from my room, which was probably as far away from the... More

People actually liking this hotel really???? It was a complete dive! Dirty stinky rooms. Sticky carpets, manky bed linen, mould round the windows. Old furniture, springy mattress. The shared shower area was disgusting. We got locked in our room and had to shout out of the window to people in the pub car park for someone to send the manager... More

Honestly have to assume goldguy74 is on a wind up as none of what he is saying stacks up. Stayed here for the second time and again staff were very friendly, food was lovely and the hotel doesn't and never has portrayed itself as 5 star, some peoples expectations must be very high considering they are not paying 5 star... This place stinks. Literally. I arrived when the dinner service was apparently in progress. What met me as I opened up the door was a stench of old chip oil. Try to ignore, but it gets worse. The hotel is obviously a target for construction workers as there is a big sign forbidding work boots on the property. A big... More

I’m not saying that this a guide to the typical sort of clientele that this place has, but the only other customers we saw at breakfast were the road builders getting ready for a days work. The main advantage to staying here for me was the proximity to the train station which is immediately across the road. We stayed here... More

Honestly havering read some of the previous comments I am seriously wondering if these people have stayed in the same place. The hotel is lovely, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food was very nice, bar and pool table downstairs, two big TV's in the bar and free wifi. It is also located right by the train station... More
