We have used the hotel and restaurant at The Cottage in the Wood for nearly 25 years. We recently booked two deluxe rooms for several days in August, when we found out we were being charged £40 per room per night more than the web prices we called up and asked for a reduction in our room rate. The reaction... more

According to our records this reviewer last stayed here in April 2005. The decision to refuse the booking was taken by me after much thought and taken in the interests of our other guests and my team. In nearly 22 years running the hotel I have never had to resort to this sort of action. The hotel is family run...

We stayed here and booked the best room. Whilst the room was large, the fittings were cheap. There was no bath robe which for £170+ was a disappointment. The whole thing felt like a travelodge. The food was fine in the restaurant. The sitting area and bar areas were very tired and looked like an old people's home. There's a... more

My husband and I stayed here in room 9 which had good views and was a decent size. The room has tea and coffee and shortbread each day and guests can ask for fresh milk instead of the UHT if they prefer it. We had a dinner bed and breakfast offer which was very good value as the food is... more

Arrived for a 2 nights stay, but had to be moved to another room as the shower broke ! This was not a problem as they upgraded us, but the hotel in general lacks atmosphere and we felt that extra something was missing. They appear to promote the restaurant side of the business much more than taking any extra care... more

We have stayed here before and so knew what to expect. We also were offered a very good price! If you don't know this Hotel, it is situated high on the eastern slopes of the Malvern Hills and enjoys fabulous views over the Severn Valley to the Cotswold Hills. On our previous stay we were accommodated in the annexe -... more

This was my first stay in the area and I shall definitely stay at the Cottage when I return. I was put in a room in the Pinnacles; it was charming and I cannot believe some of the comments about the rooms lacking character. Look on their website at Room 25; what you don't see is the comfort of that... more

Just returned from a two night stay at the Cottage in the Wood. It isn't a cheap place to go but if you have the money and you want to completely relax in luxurious surroudings then this is for you. I can honestly say that this is ones of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, views to die... more

We booked the hotel to join friends to celebrate a birthday. On arriving at the hotel and checking in we made our way to the Pinnical rooms. Although the room was large and had a superb view, lacked any character, it also had a sound proof problem as could hear another guest in the next room snoring all night. The... more

This hotel is perfectly located for walking the Malvern hills. There's a path from the carpark which leads directly into the woods, currently carpeted with bluebells, and then on to the hills beyond. We stayed in a room in The Pinnacles, an annexe built in the grounds. The bed was enormous and extremely comfortable, as were the armchairs. Extras like... more
