We first came across the riverside when searching for pet friendly hotels. And it certainly was. Our dog was welcomed by the staff and loved the freedom of running around with horses in the connected field. The hotel was quiet so we were able to sit with Debbie, the owner, like part of the family. I had a tour round... More

Really quite some achievement to make a hotel this dreadful - made Faulty Towers look like the Dorchester. Absolutely unrecognisable from the description on the website. We'd booked - but what a bother it is to have guests! They didn't recognise the rather good looking menu we'd printed off their website at all when we showed it to them and... More

Stayed three nights in August 2014 , this is 5* hotel and has a very relaxing home from home atmosphere , set in wonderful views of the river and surrounding countryside, with the ponys right in view to feed and handle , would be great for kiddies and horse lovers . Debbie the owner was extremely welcoming and entrusted us... More

This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Access poor, Reception non-existent having negotiated steep stairs to find that bedrooms are on entrance level. Peeling wallpaper and mould everywhere. Uncleared dirty crockery on tables inside and out. Our room had out of date milk cartons and no milk on second day. No soap, shampoo etc was provided. We... More

This was not as advertised on late rooms. Welcome was an old trolley discarded in car park which was in need of work. Should of known then to get back in car. We ventured on to a welcome entrance that was less than welcoming. Followed our noses down stairs to reception, where we were met by the owner arguing with... More

Wow I wish I had read reviews here beforehand however, I looked on laterooms and ended up calling the hotel directly. I was told that the only room they had left was the Penthouse and it sounded too good to be true. The woman said to make sure that we took our swimming costumes for the spa facilities and private... Normally I only leave reviews where I have something positive to say but in this case I think future guests ought to know what to expect. Fortunately booking through late rooms we didn't pay as much as other reviewers but it was still overpriced. Dangerous unlit uneven car park. Entrance down steep stairs to book in at bar. Neither two... More

Filthy place, we were upgraded, surely not, three tv s not one working, no bulbs in lampshades, filthy carpet, no tools in kitchen, a balcony which was about to fall down. jacuuzzi broken told that if it worked it would cost an extra twenty pounds a night. cold water. did not get the right breakfast each morning after... Nothing like the website - what a load of lies. Enormous, deep potholes in car park. Steep stairs down to reception/bar (homemade in rough, bare chipboard) and one staff member who was chain smoking and very tipsy at 2pm and completely drunk at 5pm - she couldn't remember checking us in! Terrace has cracked paving full of weeds and broken... More
