Spent one night here. Very pleasent greeting and lovely clean warm room if not a little old fashioned in decoration. But them we did not book a boutique hotel bedding and towels are lovely quality but the bed is too small. We had an executive room and should have a king size bed at least. Night porter was lovely and... More

Our stay at Elva Lodge was a very good experience. From the outside it may look a little dated but upon entering the reception area our impressions were quickly changed by the warm and efficient welcome from Gemma. Our bedroom was very clean and comfortable. The fully equipped en-suite had thick fluffy towels. To top it all was the brilliant... More

It's interesting looking at the other reviews. Yes it's an old building, but that's part of it's considerable charm. It's 2 stars, so expectations need to be set accordingly. I stayed two nights. Certainly my favourite in a town. Proprietor Paul Lion is one of very few people to have ever beaten Steve Redgrave in a sculling race. A legend... More

Check in was fine. The room was lovely, clean and quiet. I have stayed before on several occasions and it has always been good, until this morning. The girl serving breakfast was dreadful. I asked for toast and decaf coffee, she eventually brought a pot of coffee that was too strong to drink. I asked her for hot water but... More

We arrived just after 6.30pm on a friday night. Gemma on reception having checked us in also assisted by supplying printed details of 2 places we needed to go to including maps. The rooms were clean and extremely functionable. We had a single and an exec double as we had the dog in tow. The beds were comfortable, shower facilities... More

This 2 star hotel charged us £80 for a double room for 1 night, For this sort of money you can get a 3 star room in a better location. The 'double' bed was tiny, the decor was part early 80s MFI, part school. The matress wasn't bad and everything was clean, although the bedding (sheets and blankets - no... More

Our party of four arrived at about 8.30 on a Friday evening and after unpacking made for the bar which was attended by the same girl who had checked us in. She was constantly dashing from the bar to reception and back and I'm sure doing other jobs in between. I hope the management appreciate her as she was the... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way from Cornwall to Heathrow, after seeing it from the road. Overall, this was a very pleasant small hotel. Both the day time and evening receptionists were extremely nice and very helpful - thank you ladies. The room was very small and older but had everything we needed for a... More

I stayed here for my friends reception ( which was held at the hotel also) and i found it to be a wonderful stay! The staff are incredible and go out of their way to help, the food was delicious and the room was spacious and had all the amenities needed. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Stayed at Elva Lodge weekdays over the past 2 months while working in the area. Hotel conveniently situated and staff helpful and friendly. I could not fault the service and friendliness of the staff. Evening menu and choice of food was excellent. Would recommend this hotel as it was very good value for money.
