Located directly opposite the classical cathedral holding the Magna Carta, Sarum College apparently was built for students way back when. The rooms are small, clean and quite sober, but efficient, fairly quiet and certainly sufficient. A proper shower is available. WiFi is freely available, yet not always very stable. Breakfast was in English tradition with eggs, beans, tomatoes & bacon... More

I stayed here as a member of s group who were the visiting choir at Salisbury Cathedral for the week. The staff and in particular Linda the Manager were so very helpful and friendly. OK so the rooms are compact but they are more than adequate and kept very clean. There is a bar area and a television/common room so... More

I was overnighting in Salisbury, when travelling alone – and without my car – so I needed somewhere right in the City centre. A search found a very reasonably priced B&B single in Sarum College, in the Cathedral Close. But just as I was about to book it online, I realised that the room was not ensuite (despite their brochure... More

Thank you for your comments. We're pleased you enjoyed your ensuite guest bedroom. Indeed we do have a few very modestly priced 'standard' bedrooms with shared facilities for budget travelers who don't mind the no-frills option. I have updated our website to state this more clearly. We have five rooms that have uninterrupted views of the Cathedral. Several others have... More

A 3 night stay to look at prehistory. The location of this beautiful building is wonderful, its staff are friendly, it's very reasonably priced and the breakfast is excellent. But my single room was shabby and the shared bathroom and loo were grim. I wasn't expecting luxury but was hoping for comfort. There is refurbishment going on so I'm giving... More

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Please note that the bedroom you stayed in has a budget price (£39 including a cooked breakfast) to match the very basic amenities it offers. We also have 40 ensuite bedrooms 27 of which were renovated last year for those who wish to pay a bit more. More

In a nutshell Sarum College B&B is a hidden gem. As is Salisbury. Yes - some of the rooms are tired BUT they are very clean, the breakfast is good and the staff are welcoming and helpful. Bear in mind that this is a college with B&B accommodation and not a 4* hotel and you will be happy here. The... More

I stayed at the B&B at Sarum College for two nights (7/13 and 7/14). It was a modest room that was clean and just right for me. It had an electric tea pot with plenty of tea, coffee, sugar, creamer, etc. What a treat it all was. Now, lets talk about the view. Out my window, were the English rooftops... More

This is a fantastic b&b . The location is stunning in the Close overlooking the Cathedral and you get a hearty breakfast but most importantly they have the most wonderful friendly and helpful staff .if you are looking for the blandness and routine of a chain hotel this isn't for you but for a memorable stay you can't do better... Sarum college is worth staying at. It was inexpensive, well appointed-especially considering it is a college not a hotel- and in the close of the Cathedral. It was so nice to be able to go back to the grounds after closing and watch the sunset. The "dorm mother" at the desk was so nice and helpful too. She also gave... More

What a lovely experience being in the Cathedral close in the evening and early morning! Having such a beautiful setting at one's fingertips is astounding. Nearby Mompesson House is a stunning visit, especially for Jane Austen (film) fans. The breakfast was adequate and serviceable, but the parking within the close worth every penny!

Look no further if you want a very reasonably priced B&B with the cathedral a step away, and delightful surroundings. This lovely, characterful, building was once a residential theological college. It still offers courses and there are academic staff around. It has a bookshop, a chapel, a library, and a refectory (where other meals may be available at additional cost,... More
