Wonderful location on the river. Walking distance to all amenities. Food freshly prepared and served with panache. An enjoyable stay of 3 days during which I could visit Sailsbury Cathedral and the awe inspiring Stonehenge.

Visits for one night and the room was a pleasant suprise-big,clean and well decorated. There was a bit of noise from downstairs buts its a pub in town!!!. Great spot right on the river-Tip for parking (as no car park) the station is just up the road ,5mins walk just park there!!

Confusing entry - door clearly signed reception - leads you to a hallway with a lift, press the lift button and nothing happens... Ask at bar, told 'use the door round the corner', walk round corner - no other door. Frustrated, we telephone reception. You can only use the lift once checked in and in possession of a door key... A super large family room with comfy bed for us adults, kids had a two part sofa bed that was fine for a 7 & 10 year old but wouldn't get anyone older on it. Room was clean and modern with a very large bathroom and an amazing shower! Room also had aircon. We stopped here on a Friday night... More

stayed for one night in the middle of the heatwave. Air conditioning in the newly refurbished room was a real bonus. The room was clean, tidy and cool! Unfortunately there was no free parking, it cost us £12 to park all day in the nearby long stay car park. Breakfast not included and rather noisy at night, not from the... More

We popped in here for a beer and to watch a football match at the World Cup. The barman was very friendly and they had a variety of local beers. We also had a bit to eat which was average pub food. However, a bit later they started a disco and the music was very loud and there were several... More

I have stayed at this hotel for the third time now as we tend to go out in Salisbury a lot. Originally I had booked a single room (by mistake) and it wasn't until I got the room I realised. I then spoke to a helpful gentleman at the front desk who said it is not a problem to get... More

Poor quality rooms with an extremely small bed. Very noisy. No parking nearby and unhelpful staff. We weren't expecting too much as Wetherspoons is normally cheap and cheerful. However the experience fell below our expectations. I would stay clear of this hotel if you are looking for good value and reasonable service.

There is usually a good range of beers to drink, but all too often, they fail to carry a light bitter. The fish and chips look better than they taste and the curried lamb is made from parts of the animal of which the beast was least proud. The clientele are not the sort you would want to engage too... Bar / Lounge Restaurant
Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The site of this Wetherspoon pub has been occupied by an inn since the 15th century. By c1520, it was known as the King's Head, and it retained that name until it was rebuilt in the 1880s. The County Hotel was, itself, a change of name some time during the 1880s or 1890s. Before then, it was the Kings Head and Brewery. We have 33 individual bedrooms. All of our rooms are en suite and include tea- and coffee-making facilities, a hair dryer and TV. Free Wi-Fi is available in the bar area. Please be aware that we are a Lloyds No 1 bar so we will be playing music in the pub from Thursday to Saturday nights. Limited quiet rooms are available so please telephone in advance to request one. ... more   less
