stayed for one night in the middle of the heatwave. Air conditioning in the newly refurbished room was a real bonus. The room was clean, tidy and cool! Unfortunately there was no free parking, it cost us £12 to park all day in the nearby long stay car park. Breakfast not included and rather noisy at night, not from the... More

We popped in here for a beer and to watch a football match at the World Cup. The barman was very friendly and they had a variety of local beers. We also had a bit to eat which was average pub food. However, a bit later they started a disco and the music was very loud and there were several... More

I have stayed at this hotel for the third time now as we tend to go out in Salisbury a lot. Originally I had booked a single room (by mistake) and it wasn't until I got the room I realised. I then spoke to a helpful gentleman at the front desk who said it is not a problem to get... More

Poor quality rooms with an extremely small bed. Very noisy. No parking nearby and unhelpful staff. We weren't expecting too much as Wetherspoons is normally cheap and cheerful. However the experience fell below our expectations. I would stay clear of this hotel if you are looking for good value and reasonable service.

There is usually a good range of beers to drink, but all too often, they fail to carry a light bitter. The fish and chips look better than they taste and the curried lamb is made from parts of the animal of which the beast was least proud. The clientele are not the sort you would want to engage too... Stayed for one night on a cycling trip, hotel was very clean and food excellent value. Rooms are currently being upgraded so should improve even more. No parking available but staff were helpful in providing somewhere for bicycles to be stored.

I went here for the food so can't comment on the hotel rooms. I came here for a bite to eat and knowing what the menu was like I couldn't go wrong, Oh dear. The interior decor is showing wear and tear but outside it does look nice. I had the chilli con carne and I have got to say... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and I can highly recommend the hotel. The situation is excellent. It's beside the river and only a 5 minute walk from one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The pub which is downstairs can be very noisy so be... More

Tried to book the hotel online. Room price given was £51.75 but the booking system froze. As this was part of our 30th wedding anniversary celebrations, I phoned the hotel and spoke to Cathy Cooper & confirmed the price we had online, as part of the booking process. I re-confirmed this in an email reply to Cathy, as it listed... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The site of this Wetherspoon pub has been occupied by an inn since the 15th century. By c1520, it was known as the King's Head, and it retained that name until it was rebuilt in the 1880s. The County Hotel was, itself, a change of name some time during the 1880s or 1890s. Before then, it was the Kings Head and Brewery. We have 33 individual bedrooms. All of our rooms are en suite and include tea- and coffee-making facilities, a hair dryer and TV. Free Wi-Fi is available in the bar area. Please be aware that we are a Lloyds No 1 bar so we will be playing music in the pub from Thursday to Saturday nights. Limited quiet rooms are available so please telephone in advance to request one. ... more   less
