We had a very pleasant overnight stay in this old coaching inn en route to Devon. The hotel is well situated, right opposite an entrance to the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral. Public parking was very close at a cost of £5 for 24 hours with a special token purchased from the hotel. We were in room 15, up two flights... More

Quirky and old does not make up for dirty and in dire need of renovation. Dust was awful, no bulb in lamp, bathroom so small that towels were stacked in living room. There is no staff on the property overnight and there are no phones in the room. You'd be on your own in the event of emergency though management... More

The Chapter House is an 800 year old building, that is gorgeously quirky. You had booked online one of our executive rooms, these are clearly advertised as king sized beds. Should you have bought to my attention on check in that you wished for twin beds, we would have done our best to provide. The Chapter House is in the... More

After a four-day whirlwind tour of London, being met by the genuinely warm and welcoming staff of The Chapter House was totally unexpected and a real pleasure. Staying in a 12th century converted former stonemason's premises has its minor challenges (low doorways, uneven floors) but they recede into the distance when you enter the clever designed and trendily appointed rooms.... We stayed for 3 nights at a cost of over $600. We were placed in room 1, which is at the top of the stairs, which meant we were privy to very loud conversations every time another guest was leaving (started at 6 am, ended at 1 am) The top of the stairs is where most people planned their day.... It was with regret to hear how unhappy you were with your stay here. I had checked you into the hotel and then subsequently we had on a few occasions spoken to each other. It is a pity you hadn't mentioned any discomfort, as any problems you had encountered could have been dealt with appropriately. You are right, there was... More

Our hostess, Stephanie was wonderful!! We had a great dinner at the restaurant (note to Americans, a rack of ribs in the UK is 2 full sides of ribs and they were outstanding!) We had a a 3:45 am departure for Stonehenge so Stephanie set us up with drinks and snacks to tide us over until breakfast. The building is... More

We stayed for one night after a attending a wedding near by. We checked in late (around 7pm) and asked where we would be able to purchase some toothpaste near by at that time. The staff member immediately offered to go and do this for us, leaving us free to go and re-join the wedding celebrations. The hotel is a... More

We had a wedding nearby so stayed for a weekend at The Chapter House. It was a great experience from the moment we arrived to the morning we left. The hotel is a 15-20min easy walk from the Salisbury train station in a very nice part of town, very close to the Cathedral, restaurants, pubs and shops. It was a... More

We had been here earlier in the year and were a little disappointed with our visit, but decided to give it another go and were very happy with the greatly improved room and ambiance. Being a very old building very little is on the level in the bedrooms or stairs, but the bath/shower was excellent, bed very comfortable and we... More

Great weekend in Salisbury This is a great location for the cathedral and town and ideal if you want some real old English history. Lots of well appointed rooms with an amazing staircase that has moved over the years to make it fun every time you use it. We had a great meal on the Friday night. (The steaks were... More

Thank you for taking to the time to write a review. The hotel has so much character as you mentioned and the 'wonky' stairs get a smile from all who visit. It is super to have guests who appreciate the quirkiness of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff and the talent of our chefs- thank you. We hope to... More

Excellent central location right outside the cathedral close and easy access via St Anne's gate for this quirky historic old building. Decent wine bar on ground floor, up windy wonky steps to the bedrooms, huge brass key rings, fabulous sheets, tiny loo and v small shower room, no idea how the managed to get it all in. Very clean, breakfast... More
