Last minute trip to the South Down National Park, accommodation was booked quite late and this is one of the very few places that were available. We should have looked further as this is probably one of the worst places ive stayed in. I have stayed in Youth Hostels before but nothing prepared me to this. The room was the... More

YHA really need to get refurbish this hostel. I never expect much from hostels, a clean bedm a locking door, secure storage facilties, easy 24 hour access to my belongings. Unfortunately this YHA place has problems on all these fronts. The room was relatively clean, but I had to make my own bed, not quite what I wanted to do... More

We stayed in the Salisbury youth hostel overnight on route to Cornwall and have to say we were very disappointed. My children (very well behaved) found it quite unfriendly and my biggest complaint was the lounge and hallway stunk of cigarettes. The basement looks like a kiddy dungeon and there were no board games. I have stayed in much better.... More

I camped at this hostel for 5 nights and found it to be a very good place to stay. There is room on the lawns for about 10 tents. The site is tidy and safe. The hostel is very handy for the city centre, cathedral, bus and train stations. It took me about 10-15 minutes to walk to the cathedral.... More

Probably the worst hostel iv'e ever had the misfortune to stay in, YHA or otherwise, ( it was atrocious ).Very old and tired and worn out, the whole place badly needs a refurbishment. The kitchen was quite dirty and quite small and short of untensils and pots and pans and crockery and cutlery etc etc, also it got locked after... More

Salisbury Hostel has a very pleasant appearance in an elegant old estate-type house on attractive and spacious grounds. Check in was efficient and friendly. The kitchen and lounge areas were very clean. Sadly, while I was there I learned that YHA is planning to sell the building and close this hostel within one year! This seems very strange since, on... Even though it is a bit worn, the YHA in Salisbury is a great place to stay. The staff is friendly, and the location is really close to the centre of the city. Breakfast was great, ant the setting is that of an "oasis" in town. The staff was good at giving information and provided us with a map and... More

the hostel is small but acceptable for a city like Salisbury. The hostel is quite far to walk and with no clear direction from the railway station. In fact, it is basically a straight walk from the station but because it is a bit far to walk you may wonder if you have got the right way. The last section... More

I was staying with my 3 young children. We were put in a separate wooden cabin behind the main building that had about 6 dorms in it. The place was filthy. The carpets were so disgusting I wouldn't let my children walk barefoot. The walls were covered in mould. The room and mattresses were damp and smelt really bad. It... More
