We had a disappointing stay at the New Inn, the breakfast was poor not what you expect at £30 a person, the rooms average, the shower did not drain away. We thought the Pub would be nice a place to stay because of the hospitality you would find there in the evenings, not so the pub was not open to... more

Bed (cheap, uncomfortable) & Breakfast ( no juice, no cereal, minimal fry up and toast on the same plate to soak up the grease, one rasher, everythng spitting fat) Real Ale (it may have been once, but now with real bacteria, chilled to avoid you tasting it) and Fantastic Food (fish and chips that had clearly been pre-cooked and re-fried... more

First impressions were not good & it went down hill from there. Essentially dirty, small & badly maintained rooms. Poor breakfast (no cereal or fruit!, just a fry up) which was swimming in grease served on crockery which had not been washed up properly. Gloomy dining room badly in need of a makeover. Beer was horrendous (started off ok but... more

I stayed here with a bit of trepidation after reading some of the reviews but my fears were unfounded. The landlady was welcoming & my room was clean with everything working. There was no TV remote but that's not a big deal. I was impressed with the large mugs provided for tea in the rooms rather than the tiny cups... more

The New Inn looked very run down. The rooms were very small, with hardly any storage, there were cobwebs and spiders in the corners and lots of knats in the rooms. Breakfast was basic. We had problems with the shower going cold when next door ran their tap. We had stayed there to do some walking and fortunately didn't need to... more

Advertised as Three Diamond English Tourist Board Rated accommodation we expected The New Inn to be of a certain standard. The bedroom was clean and tidy and presentable, however, that is where the positive comments end! We were welcomed by a strange little lady, and were taken though the public bar (which was closed by the way) and shown to... more

The reception on arrival was unwelcoming, the room was tiny, 'en-suite' turned out to be shower and sink in room and toilet with window into the bedroom....no privacy! really unimpressed with the state of the place and cant believe we paid £60 for a night...mind you it was only one night cos we found lovely b and b few miles... more

A quiet little place, not many rooms, and had clean and comfortable facilities. From the road, the New Inn was easy to find. It is located a block from the main road, and bus stop. It was in the village of Winterbourne Monkten, and not in actual Avebury, although it was very close. The rooms were nice, not large but... more
