The Lodge Avebury has two rooms for rent, one room for two people and the other for up to 3 people. There were 5 of us and we were quite happy with our three-day stay. The proprietor, Andrew, was most helpful and knowledgable about the region and its history, This is a vegetarian B&B. Our entire party was omnivoire and... More

The Lodge is a little expensive, but the location is excellent and the breakfast was beautiful and overlooking the stone circle. There were no surprises with the vegetarian meal, it was clearly stated with the hotel information. Andrew was helpful with information and arranging a taxi for us, and the pub next door had good food and a great atmosphere.

Amazingly the Lodge brings you right into the heart of Avebury Stone circle. This vegetarian boutique hotel serves great breakfasts. Upstairs rooms look strait out over the magic Stones which when free of traffic at night and in the early morning is quite stilling and enticing. Silbury Hill is but 30 minutes brisk walking away which on our visit sported... More

This is by far the best Bed and Breakfast accommodation we have ever stayed in! Avebury Lodge is situated within the Avebury stone circle (in Wlltshire) so when you open your bedroom windows in the morning, you look out onto 5,500 years of neolithic history! We received a very warm welcome from the owner of the Lodge, and quickly felt... More

I recently stayed at this B&B in Avebury and enjoyed myself, although the overall experience was average, especially factoring in the price. The B&B is beautiful with a lovely garden and really neat furnishings and antiques. The location is perfect, just across for the bus stop, near the pub, and surrounded by the magnificent stone circle in Avebury. The breakfast... More

How do I reply to a review when someone refers to all my responses as condescending? In this reviewers eyes it seems I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. It's a bit disconcerting too when a guest checks-out and without any prompting tells you they'd like to come back and stay with their husband at some future... More

My husband ran the Race to the Stones in July (61 mike race from Chinner to Avebury). Unfortunately, it was an extremely hot day and he didn't finish. So, he planned a Revenge Run and we ran the last 24 miles to the Lodge, slept over, then returned to the place we started. When we arrived on that Friday night... More

It was great having such nice, friendly and bubbly guests come and stay. If every breakfast time was filled with so much conversation and laughter it would be wonderful! You were all great and you would all be welcome back any time! More

I don't usually bother reviewing places I've stayed, but after visiting this beautiful B&B I felt compelled to write a glowing report. As a vegetarian of 30 years, I found it thrilling to stay in such a delightful house in the middle of a stone circle. Even though I am from the UK I had never once visited Avebury. My... More

Thank you for such a kind review. I hope you enjoy your stay in December just as much as the stay you have just reviewed. I genuinely wish every guest enjoyed their stay as much as you. Perhaps the reality is that some people come to enjoy themselves whilst others simply find it hard to unwind in life or are... More

We booked to stay at The Lodge for a few nights and took both rooms. The setting, rooms and the hosts were wonderful but we still left feeling short changed. £175 for a room is a lot of money when breakfast is vegetarian and is made up of value baked beans, bland mushrooms, one single vegan sausage some average scrambled... After reading this review I'm drawn to question why this reviewer chose to stay with us at all with such a clearly prejudiced attitude towards vegetarianism? As a vegetarian bed and breakfast, we serve vegetarian breakfasts, if that isn't what they wanted, then fine, there are plenty of non-vegetarian bed and breakfasts about. Criticism is helpful, dogma should be kept... More

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Lodge and would pretty much agree with what Alan W has to say. This is a perfectly sited B and B in a very special place, ideally placed for convenient access to all the local attractions. We had the same room as Alan and were entranced each morning on rising and each evening... More
