Our hearts sank a little when we saw the hanging basket and container by the front door with uncared-for, in fact, dead plants. Even in November these could have been filled with pansies (or...just put them out of sight!). We tried the doorbell several times, but it didn't work, so had to phone to get the landlady to let us... more

I was fortunate enough to come across Manxdene hotel as the service I received was excellent in terms of the food, the rooms and the information regarding the city and how I could visit York, Harrogate and Knaresborough by train. The hotel is an easy walking distance from the train station. I would love to visit Leeds again and would... more

I could not sleep - which is basic - was it the rough sheets, fumes, roomspray ? I can sleep pretty much anywhere - so this really was bad. Found a cig stub in the drawer when I went to put stuff away. Depressing place, once a grand building. I saw a fellow travellers room, which was truely dire. more

Unfortunately the hotel double booked, despite the fact that we had paid a deposit some weeks before. They let us know on the afternoon we were due to arrive and recommended the Travelodge as the alternative (having apparently rung round and found all other places full). This cost us extra for breakfast and parking, and was in a noisy central... more

I have just come to Leeds to take up a new position and needed a base whilst finding a flat here. The Manxdene hotel was ideal for this purpose and I got so comfy here I did not want to leave! However, the manageress was very helpful and gave me directions to quickest way to get to locations of all the... more

I was actually asleep in room 11 when an Asian woman (the owner?) asked me to leave the hotel due to a double booking on the room. When I suggested that it would be more appropriate to relocate the other people because I was already installed in the room, she made it clear that they were paying more money as... more

The hotel is conveniently situated next to the university. It is pure Victoriana, with many original features. The dining room is all purples and plums. I has a family crisis while I was there and the manageress was so lovely to me, and really helped me a lot. I was on my own and all the staff made me feel... more

A smile says it all. I like things short and simple. you get straight to your own business with out much hustle at the front desk. its location quit helped me, as my business was with Leeds dentistry at the Wesley Building. I could say I got my money's worth. more
