I make it a point now of remarking on nice & pleasant stays in hotels and restaurants as i often see so many complaints that we never mention the good that is out there. My wife and I were visiting friends in Leeds and did not want to stay in the usual 'chain block of flats' hotels and so found... more

We didn't stay at Haley's but booked for Sunday lunch with a group. The staff were indifferent in general and the receptionist was surley when we paid. They had made an error and I found myself apologising for pointing it out. She most certainly didn't feel the need to apologise and challenged me before conceding the point. Perhaps something was... more

Stayed for one night as family of four. This is a lovely hotel in a quiet area, handy for Headingley cricket (less than 10 minutes walk). We were given a very large double and a standard double across the landing - our kids are old enough to be trusted but if you want adjoining rooms then you might not get... more

My wife and myself along with my daughter and her boyfriend stayed the night before my daughter's graduation. We liked the rooms and the staff were very friendly, but I have the following comments to make: 1} When the waiter was serving the wine the cork broke and I ended up with pieces of cork in the glass. I handed... more

room was ok but a little tired. food was ok. the problem was my room was above the restaurant and kitchen and heard everything up until midnight and then from 6am - talking, banging etc. They also tried to charge me £8 for an orange and lemonade which never turned up with my room service - I am still trying... more

This is a really nice place to stay - the room we had was no.2., it was very spacious, cosy and the bed was so comfortable. We arrived late and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The only meal we had was breakfast and that was lovely. But and these are important points The hotel is very much a... more

When I read some of the reviews I wonder if we were staying at the same place. Excellent value at £80/night including a great cooked breakfast. Room (No. 5) was perfectly adequate for the price, and quieter perhaps than one over the front door or bar. Our friends were disturbed on the Saturday night by a party who did not... more

I turned up on Saturday evening without a booking, and the receptionists were so welcoming; they offered an overnight room at a reasonable price, and the room, food, and service was faultless; they were very attentive without being intrusive. The room has good facilities, including a full size iron and ironing board, and hairdryer; the dinner and breakfast was very... more

My trip was for business, so I was solo. I'm in no way connected to this hotel - if the review below sounds too-glowing its because I find staying in the big-chains fairly grim and when I find a really nice local hotel I think its a reason to rejoice ! I have stayed in Leeds quite a few times... more

Found the hotel in Johansen's guide so normally expect high standard. The staff on arrival were friendly and we were shown to our de-luxe room in a separate building. Room was a good size with extra large double bed, but old impractical furniture - no drawer space, no mirror on dressing table, and we found out later that the building... more
