We don't visit Leeds very often, but stayed at the Merrion about 4 - 5 years ago and had a lovely stay. Very pricey, as even then the rooms were quite tired, but the staff were fantastic, very obliging, check in was fast and efficent as was check out. Breakfast was lovely a very charming group of staff. The menu... more

Good hotel this. Location, rooms and service all acceptable for the price of £40 for a single room. Sun to Thurs this should be a great place to stay. Trouble is I went on a sat night only and a 20 strong stag party were staying there. These pre-wedding groups in England are notoriously idiotic, drunk and noisy but this... more

It's a pity they don't take advantage of the great city centre location. If ever a hotel needs some TLC, this is it. Noise levels are atrocious, decor is tired, dining room is tired, food is very tired so residents would be well advised to eat out. Some of the staff could do with some lessons in manners, but I... more

The Good The price is OK and it is about a 10 minute walk from the train station which makes it well located. The not so good Faulty/slow card reader meant about 30 minutes to check in Staff pretty unhelpful Decor is badly in need of some TLC Very noisy area through the night The bad Could not purchase anything... more

Room OK with good facilities for a 3 star. No problems with check in and good rates for parking car in local car park. Main problem was breakfast on Sunday Morning we arrived in breakfast room at 9:45am and hardly anything left and what was available was cold. Would stay again because of this.. more

Check in: OK but didn't get room correct. Changed when asked Room: Good working space and everything clean and tidy but bed past its use by date, lumpy and uncomfortable Bathroom: Adequate to meet all basic needs Didn't use restaurant for dinner but had bar meal which was OK. Bar staff pleasant and friendly. Breakfast: Buffet style with only limited... more

Booked seven rooms for a conference - its cheap and it is often the only central hotel in Leeds with rooms available(which tells you a lot). As usual with this hotel, they got the booking details wrong (room only when our deal was for breakfast inc). They promised us an upgrade but that never materialised. The reception staff are hopeless;... more

i am a disabled guy and i found the hotel to be of a good standard. I managed to get a superb rate.. 25 pounds a night , breakfast included with Superbreak. I spent 4 nights there...105 pounds.. it may be slightly below the Queens Hotel in most things but incredible value. The rooms were fairly good but no disabled... more

Must admit the changes in the hotel from my last visit are phenominal, the new Manager was available all the time and nothing was a problem The rooms very comfortable and clean, Exceptionally good reception staff. The hotel looks clean and bar area may do with some live music more
