We came across the Old Silent Inn whilst on route to our holiday cottage in Howarth, it was a very welcome find. It looked very inviting from the outside with very pretty lighting, the staff were very welcoming and the food lovely, I've never seen a steak pie that size before and I would love to know what type of... What a lovely cosy friendly pub. We had a lovely meal served by a delightful member of staff. The open fire was a real welcome. Also I must remark on the very friendly bar man, he was so pleasant an absolute delight. We will certainly be back.

We finished a wintry walk with friends by calling in for a late Sunday lunch to this lovely, cosy dog friendly pub. Two of us ate the slow roasted shoulder of lamb which was delicious. This was washed down by excellent value Australian red wine and followed by the wonderful Jaffa cake cheesecake and limoncello tart with ice cream. Great service... More

First visited at Christmas and with the lights, the fire, the bad weather outside we thought it was perfect! Lovely hearty meal and not too expensive and the service was delightful. We went again last sunday and was less enchanted by it. The service was still very good but the menu options weren't doing anything for us this time as... More

Visited for two days between Xmas and New year and had a great time. Warm, friendly and great atmosphere from a wonderful host. Two roaring fires on the go, real ale, extremely dog friendly and good food added up to a very memorable stay. The wonderful decorations added to the ambience as well as the helpful attitude from the staff.... More

We called in for lunch, not having booked and with the place pretty much booked out, the friendly staff found us a table within minutes. The waitress was very attentive and again, friendly. Three of our party had the steak pie and it was without exception the best I have ever had. It was absolutely stuffed full of gorgeously tender... More

We had christmas day lunch at the old silent whilst staying nearby. Was certainly not disappointed. Made to feel extremely welcome. Food excellent, good real ales, very cosy fires and wonderfully friendly service. Went back 2 days later and once again we were made to feel most welcome by the owner. Would thoroughly recommend the old silent. A great traditional... More

My wife & I were celebrating our anniversary by holidaying in Bronte country over a long weekend and visited many great sights and places to eat. Old Silent Inn was recommend by a few folk, so we went for lunch time drinks and loved the olde worlde feel of the place, the folk we talked to and its remote-ish location.... More
