We (a group of walkers with muddy boots) called in for a drink on a long walk. We were given a really warm welcome. Nice beer & for the tea drinkers free cake! Coffee drinkers got a free top up. Wish we could have spent longer here.

John and Family made me feel very welcome from my moment of arrival and it is obvious they enjoy meeting folk and making them feel at home. Tad late on the review but it's about time we got round to it since we had a unforgettable stay. We stayed here while on the pennine way, we called up earlier in the day about places to camp to which the owner who answered was extremely helpful and forewarned us about a campsite (bad planning on our half). Skip... More

We spent three nights at this great friendly pub so that we could walk some of the nearby Penine Way and Bronte Way. Everything was spot on, from the great food to the warm family welcome. The food is good quality and plentiful without the pretence of a so called Gastropub, this is what all pubs should be. I rarely... More

We came across the Old Silent Inn whilst on route to our holiday cottage in Howarth, it was a very welcome find. It looked very inviting from the outside with very pretty lighting, the staff were very welcoming and the food lovely, I've never seen a steak pie that size before and I would love to know what type of... What a lovely cosy friendly pub. We had a lovely meal served by a delightful member of staff. The open fire was a real welcome. Also I must remark on the very friendly bar man, he was so pleasant an absolute delight. We will certainly be back.

We finished a wintry walk with friends by calling in for a late Sunday lunch to this lovely, cosy dog friendly pub. Two of us ate the slow roasted shoulder of lamb which was delicious. This was washed down by excellent value Australian red wine and followed by the wonderful Jaffa cake cheesecake and limoncello tart with ice cream. Great service... More

First visited at Christmas and with the lights, the fire, the bad weather outside we thought it was perfect! Lovely hearty meal and not too expensive and the service was delightful. We went again last sunday and was less enchanted by it. The service was still very good but the menu options weren't doing anything for us this time as... More

Visited for two days between Xmas and New year and had a great time. Warm, friendly and great atmosphere from a wonderful host. Two roaring fires on the go, real ale, extremely dog friendly and good food added up to a very memorable stay. The wonderful decorations added to the ambience as well as the helpful attitude from the staff.... More
