Very good in all respects except that the corridor areas can make the rooms subject to noise what with closing doors and an ancient lift door and grill. The bar area is now very comfortable following refitting or some such. Very nicely placed for the city's sites. Murray restaurant very good so you can eat in without risk.

I stayed one night. I agree with recent comments about nice redecoration and overall the hotel has a nice feel and the bar/restaurant area is good. Its a pity though that the flooring wasn't fixed before new carpets were laid in the rooms/corridors near where my room was. The floors creak a lot in corridors and in rooms above and... More

Just had a great one night stay following a day of hard racing at Goodwood. Excellent value at £135 DBB on Sunday nights. Small problem in room on arrival which was quickly resolved by the receptionist. I requested a room with muted colours ( some of the rooms are red/black) and got just what I requested. Decor throughout the building... More

We stayed one night at The Ship hotel and really enjoyed it. It is a traditional town house hotel but has been decorated beautifully. Location-wise it is right on the high street / in the centre of town, and the people were really friendly. Would highly recommend it!

My elderly mother and I had occasion to return to Chichester (my Mother was born and raised in the centre of Chichester) for personal reasons and opted to stay at The Ship Hotel. We had initially arranged to stay over the weekend but had to go earlier in the week so shared a twin room for the first two nights... More

We spent last night at the Ship and stayed in a nice room.We paid £150 for the night and is a little more than we normally pay. The whole hotel looked to have been recently decorated in good taste. My daughter had a slightly cheaper room and could not sleep much because of the ventilation plant outside her room was... More

We were returning to Chichester to go the newly-upgraded Chichester Festival Theatre and stayed for the third time at The Ship Hotel. The public areas have been significantly upgraded since last year. Both the restaurant and the bar have a contemporary feel about them but in keeping with the age of the hotel. The dinner we had was absolutely superb... More

We spent one night at the Ship on the 28th July to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Everyone from the reception to the restaurant staff made us feel very welcome and they could not have done more to make our stay a memorable one. The room was very comfortable. It was a very warm day so there were fans available... More

This is NICE. Nice staff, nice public spaces, nice period features (fab staircase), nicely and stylishly decorated. Great breakfast. Comfortable bed. Cosy rooms - theatre themed. We were inThe Man Who Came To Dinner. Short walk to the Theatre.

Rooms and warmth of reception are excellent. All created around an obvious Chichester theatrical theme, the rooms are very well equipped and interestingly but tastefully decorated. We would recommend a superior room. Breakfast is fine but a little disappointing at this level, full breakfast is a little frugal and porridge to be avoided for example. We have enjoyed better food... More
