Food - great Room - great Barmaids - excellent, friendly and helpful Landlady - single handedly the most miserable one you could wish to meet. Stayed 3 night as was working close by, it's no surprise why the local guys I was working with call it the 'Doom & Gloom' all because of the landlady. Just plain rude, miserable and... More

I read some of the reviews from around a year ago in which the main theme seemed to be the poor attitude of the staff. We found the opposite and everyone was welcoming and friendly. Really good food (Steak and Guinness pie with puff pastry was enormous with plenty of meat and chicken breast with creamy Stilton sauce was very... More

Spent two nights at the Horse and Groom and what an enjoyable stay it was. My room was comfortable, although I never understand why TVs, these days are so small and put so high. The food was glorious, especially the half shoulder of lamb. Breakfast was carefully prepared and all the staff were friendly.

In the rooms, could there be some way of making them private, such as net curtains, or blinds, as people can see straight into them, and therefore, electricity is wasted because the curtains have to be drawn and lights put on even in daylight. Also there were no dessert forks given offered with the sweet. This is a minute detail... More

Nice little pub offering good accommodation. You do need a car to get around. There was a mix up with our booking {their fault) but this was quickly resolved. Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Bathroom could have done with refurbishment. Food in the evening was excellent as well as the breakfast in the morning. Reasonable value.

Stayed here for three nights whilst visiting an elderly relative in hospital. Very comfortable quiet room, huge bed (just me in the room!), spotlessly clean, functional bathroom, super breakfast, very friendly staff. Nice and quiet. Would definitely recommend and return.

We stopped off here, exhausted, after an eight mile hill walk from the nearby Plush Tents Glamping site. We were very close to the time when they stop taking lunch orders (2.15) but they were very welcoming and happy to cook and serve us five huge delicious meals. The food as hot and plentiful, even enough to satisfy the appetites... More

Good value hotel, nice food, rooms clean and well presented. Some of the staff absolutely delightful, just cannot do enough for you, others need to attend customer services training! Good selection of real ales & cider. The visit from the Morris dancers was extra special,

Very cozy little place which makes great traditional food. Especially the lamb shank is highly recommendable. Rooms are nice and clean. Great location outside the bigger cities close to the baetiful coastline. The staff is very friendly and makes the stay nice and comfort.
