Don't let the lobby fool you. After you get above the ground floor, it's a whole different world that's trying its best to look elegant, but falls FAR short of the mark. Our group hit the UK during a raging heatwave, although it was probably cooler outdoors than in the room, since most of the windows would not open. An... more

My wife & i have just returned from a 5 day coach holiday staying in the Britannia Hotel. The night before we left I looked up all the comments on the web. If I had read them a week earlier I would have cancelled the trip, but I am so glad that I didn't. On first seeing The Britannia from... more

A dirty, unfriendly, unprofessional environment. Would never visit again, could not wait to get out of it. I worked at Coventry YMCA for 10 years that was a 5* hotel in comparison. Ruined our weekend, clear out all reception staff, get fresh blood in and retrain to a quality that people expect nowadays. Take a visit to a few local... more

We first spotted the Britannia from the outside we were worried as it looked very grim. The reception was better. We were checked in very quickly. Had paid £58 for two nights in a superior double room with spa bath, which was an internet special. We noticed that the price had gone up to £167 for two nights on the... more

The room was large and clean but tatty. There was peeling wallpaper, wardrobe and bathroom doors wouldn't close and the colour TV was monochrome in places. However this added character....................... Despite being in the city centre the room was reasonably quiet. Due to the near proximity of the main bus station there was a constant smell of diesel fumes. The... more

I've stayed here 5 or 6 times now; I keep returning because the location can't be beat. That being said, this is not a nice hotel. Besides the convenience of location (proximity to my customer in the town centre), the hotel benefits from age in the sense that the rooms are spacious. The beds are usually dressed in euro style... more

Eugh! What an awful hotel... Forced to stay here with colleagues, next time I'll be getting a note from my Mum/Doctor/Lawyer/Priest instead... The first room (620) was shabby, but I was ready to accept it. Then it turned out it was impossible to flush the toilet. It simply would not flush no matter how hard you tried. Not nice. The... more

I am writing this review bearing in mind when I booked the hotel i booked a superior jacuzzi bathroom room for £29. How can you go wrong in the middle of a city for that price? We were only using the hotel as a crash pad as we were out n cov with friends. From the outside the hotel looks... more

I stayed here as an adult chaperone for a American, 40-person high school tour group. (Coventry was a one-night stop between Stratford and York.) Before we left for England, I had read reviews here and worried about what we would find. I kept my expectations low—and good thing I did. Although the lobby looked pleasant and the staff were friendly,... more
