Location This is the Leofric's best feature. Central, less than a minute's walk from the cathedrals Staff Bar staff and night porter excellent. Reception variable. Waiting staff (for a formal dinner) poor. Rooms Single room size adequate and mine had a small double bed, always a plus and modern TV. The gold striped wallpaper and blue, red and gold carpets... more

Well, I just spent a night there for a meeting and a formal dinner, but to me it seemed OK for a business hotel. The room was definitely adequate, the bathroom was well supplied; the only complaint I would have there is that there was no "hospitality tray" ( kettle, pot, tea, coffee, perhaps the odd biscuit ....). The food... more

I was greated at the hotel overhearing a conversation between waitress and receptionist discussing the chef had walked out... not a great start When asking if I should eat out rather than dine at the restaurant the girls face said it all... I should have ran while I had the chance! The room was cramped and stuffy (only way of... more

I called in (with the missus, and my nephew & his G.F.) on spec, to book 2 double rooms, and we were met with nothing but courtesy and politeness from the moment we arrived to check out the following day. The cost was not prohibitive, although not as cheap as some previous reviewers seem to have got theirs for....no biggie.... more

I had used this hotel in the past a few years ago and was very disappointed, but was convinced to try it agin by friends who said it had improved - it hasn't! My room (a double theoretically) was small, dark, hot and shabby with nowhere to put clothes except in the wardrobe, I would have found a chest of... more

Location brilliant for tourism or business, but the food was not good, they willingly refunded me and were very apologetic for my experience. I will stay there again, due to the location being so appropriate, but the rooms are in no way comparable to the lovely reception. more

A friend booked for us in advance on the internet and got a good price- about half price I'd say. Very central- right by West Orchards shopping centre (and hence not such great views). You have to ring a bell to get in as it gets later. I stayed on a Saturday night so there was a bit of noise... more

I lived in Coventry as a student and the Leofric always appeared to be the best hotel in town to me, so 20 odd years later when I visted the city on business I stayed there. Booking through the Menzies Hotel website gets you the very best deal - I had a room including breakfast for £39.50. I suppose the... more

My husband and I have just returned from a New Year stay at this hotel, contrary to all the negative reviews posted I can say that we throughly enjoyed our stay there. I disagree totally with all the people who are moaning about the hotel, it was lovely and clean , friendly staff, central to the shops. We stayed for... more

Having stayed in the Leofric a few occasions in the past, we hoped it might have improved, but sadly no, it's got worse. The rooms are drabby and are in severe need of updating. The bedding was ripped. We asked for a quiet room, and were given a second floor bedroom over the main shopping precinct! It was quieter than... more
