I had booked a single room, but on arrival was upgraded to a double room - thank you! The bed was comfortable, and the room was warm and clean, although a good dust around the light fitting wouldn't hurt... My room was not en-suite but the shared bathroom was clean with a good shower. There was a sink in the... More

Stayed one night (Sunday) in an amazingly quaint room with a four poster bed, sloping floor, exposed beams and en suite bathroom. We arrived quite late (8.30pm) and the kitchen was shut so walked 500m or so and found an Indian restaurant nearby (excellent, by the way!). The live music had stopped when we returned to the pub, but our... More

I booked a double room as the reviews had been quite positive. The outside of the hotel was picturesque and it was just £5.00 taxi ride from New Street Station. My room, however was tiny, facing the outside part of the pub and badly lit. I asked twice for a missing bulb to be replaced but that never happened. The... More

I have stopped here on a previous occasion in one of their expensive rooms and it was a lot more pleasant. Our room was cold and very noisy as there is an outside bar on the ground floor. The shared bathrooms were constantly busy so it became a problem. The bed was very uncomfortable and the bar man who served... More

Pros Close to centre Character and historic 10/10 on the food at breakfast Beer garden massive comfortable bed Let me keep my pushbike inside every night (massive plus point) Friendly staff Excellent shower Cons (all minor to me, anyway) Cheap value "coke" served instead of proper coke or pepsi Only one cider served Massive key, keyring you had to carry... The crown inn is one of the oldest secular buildings in Birmingham being built as early as 1368. The pub has a lot of character with many of its historical architecture preserved, the original well is still inside too which has been filled to preserve it. The staff are friendly and polite, the atmosphere is lively with a very comfortable... More

We were in Birmingham for a conference. It's very close to the centre, reasonable prices, lovely pub (very old- 1368!) and excellent large beer garden. Breakfast cooked perfectly (try the spinach omelette!). Love the quirky rooms with old doors and wooden floors at an interesting angle! Beds very comfortable. Owner and staff very helpful and friendly. Definitely going back

This hotel is very very old, built around 1368. There is a pub on the ground floor. Security, however, seems good, as they have installed an access alarm at the door leading to the rooms on the second floor. Our room was a hugh room for 4 adults (1 double, 2 singles) but the room was dim and the floor... More

I stayed here with a friend after the cricket at Edgbaston (which is about 30 minutes walking distance away). For the price we paid I can't have any complaints - the bed was comfortable enough for one night and breakfast was a nice full English. The staff were also all very friendly. Sure, it has shared bathrooms but this was... More
