I stayed at the hotel for one night in a standard twin room. I've never stayed in such a basic hotel room! There wasn't even any handwash! The room was also small and stuffy and the showee was tiny! It cost us 10 pounds for a taxi into the city and we had a really good night. Luckily, we didn't... More

We stayed here while visiting our son at Birmingham Uni. We have stayed before in the modern blocks of the hotel/conference centre and they have been a bit warm and uncomfortable. This time we managed to be out into the old house(Garth House) and appeared to be the only people in the building. For £60 for the night including breakfast... More

This was an ideal place for our visit to our son (a post-grad student at the Uninversity). The room was comfortable and light, with the usual amenities. The shower and loo were clean, if a bit basic. Breakfast was generous and parking was safe.

We stayed here the night after a family wedding and were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in Lucas House itself - and contrary to other reviews there is a lift although we generally used the stairs. Lucas House was built in 1973, and it looks like it. The building, decor and fittings are looking a little tired, but are spotlessly clean.... More

Recently stayed at Lucas house. Check in was quick however i was shocked to know that there is no lift. We had to carry our bags all the way to 3rd floor by stairs and through corridors. Otherwise overall experience was good. Good for short stay. Near to university campus.

There is nothing massively wrong with this place but I am proud to be an alumnus of the university and I can't say I'd be that impressed if I were there for a conference. It suited us fine as we were there for a reunion but I wouldn't use it as an alternative to the city centre. Room was ok... More

Without a doubt this was the quickest check-in I had, followed a day later by the quickest checkout I've ever had. In between I stayed in a room that was fine - perhaps a bit small and in need of a bit of redecoration, but it had all I needed including a decent shower, coffee-making facilities, an ironing board, space... Thought this was rather overpriced at £70 for a double. It is very basic, and there are much plusher hotels in the city at that price. Rooms are clean and functional, and the grounds are quiet considering it's the middle of the city centre. But the public areas are pretty horrid - reception and dining room look like school facilities.... More

The room was a little dated and the bed wasn't the comfiest, but there was everything we needed for a basic overnight stay. The breakfast was self serve and a fair choice but I would have liked some fresh fruit. The staff were good, helpful and pleasant.

I stayed here overnight following an evening at the cricket ground. It was close by, and easy to get to and find. The person on reception seemed to take a long time to find my booking, and I had to fill in a card with my details - as I had booked I would have thought these were already in... More
