the food was better than some others in the chain, the service was excellent and unlike a lot of others the wait for service was not as long as normal, in fact both times I went to the bar I was served immediately, something perhaps that other 'Spoons managers might try and aspire to.

This hotel is great for Xmas markets and very close to new street station, I arrived early but was able to leave my over night bag at hotel till I could check in, my room was on first floor towards the back so noise from the bar below a few doors banging but city centre hotel it comes with a... The location was perfect as we were attending a wedding right across the road at Bodega. Sadly this is where the positive comments end. The accommodation when booked 6 months ago was described as a refurbished room but this must have been a very long time ago as it was dark, dingy and tatty especially in the bathroom where the... We were looking for a hotel to stay at after going to see a band at the LG arena. I am so pleased we chose the Briar Rose! The only problem we had, and not even a problem really, was disorganisation as we arrived at 12 noon. No one knew what was happening and we were told that we could... More

We just needed somewhere to stay in Birmingham before an early flight the following morning and the airport hotels were all well over £120. This was five minutes from New Street station with loads of eating options around and the room was excellent. I have used wetherlodges before and their rooms are always of a good standard, but this was... More

This is the second time we've stayed at The Briar Rose and although it was good last time, the rooms have been refurbished and are a big improvement. With regards to location, you can't really go wrong, being a short walk from Birmingham New Street station and the city centre. And as for the price? A bargain!

The hotel is just a short walk from New Street station and therefore right in the centre. Staff were welcoming, helpful and looked after luggage on departure day. Rooms were clean and spacious. Beds comfortable and breakfast in Wetherspoons next door was fine and good value.

By all accounts, this is a great hotel that manages to balance all the criteria of of the term 'value for money'. It's a shame that the hotel spoils its chances of a five star rating by getting the little things wrong. I had no milk or teaspoons with my tea and coffee making facilities. The free bottles of water... More
