Booked in through work and arrived late, was desperately tired and hungry due to journey from hell via A14! The place was horribly smelly. Had to run upstairs to dump my case just so I could get some food as it shut at 9.30. Waited about 10 minutes with other people at the bar ( which resembeld an old fashioned... more

The outside of the hotel looked very promising, although the surrounding area was not. The reception was friendly, but when I got to my room, the smell was of a very old place. It might been clean, but the appearance of the carpet and the furniture was so old and smelled that way too. The bed was so small and... more

I stayed at this hotel for two nights, pulled up to what looked like a nice building in a run down area, but quite central to train station. My room was on the fourth floor, and I got very small lift there which smelled of beer. The carpet on my floor was dirty, the doors were dirty, the windows were... more

Best value for money ever. Rooms were contemporary and spotlessly clean. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Ideal location for business or pleasure. Will be staying again without a doubt. more

I was due to do a course in birmingham and the company had a rate with the Paragon. I neglected to check reviews before I had let work book my stay, once I decided to look I was a little worried with the reviews to say the least. Varying from AMAZING to RUBBISH in the space of a month. (find... more

The rooms are great for single travellers, but situated in an industrial wasteland not far from Birmingham's Bullring so maybe a bit scarey for some. Nicely decorated with power shower, lovely fresh linen and flat screen TV. I got a superior room which was well equipped with tea and coffee and biscuits. I heard others complaining about the standard rooms... more

Words fail to convey what an abhorrent, dismal, dank and foetid little hellhole this hotel is. Avoid this dump at all costs. more

Agree with most of the posters here - staff unskilled and unfriendly. Decor dark and unwelcoming, especially the sludge coloured walls in bedrooms. Corridors leading to the rooms smelly and scruffy. Sash windows rattle through the night letting gales of cold air in. Food in bar bland boring and luke warm I arrived on a Saturday and there where some... more

I would very much welcome the opportunity of addressing these issues with them personally and do hope that they may feel able to contact me at PARAGON HOTEL to discuss them further. I place an...

Having booked my stay through a reputable company i had used before, i expected the hotel to at least upto a certain standard - how wrong could i have been. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very young (and im only 22 myself) and ignorant man who made it quite obvious that he didnt really want to be there... more
