Reception staff lovely! Restaurant staff (females) rude, cleared plates away before finished, tried packing up before end of breakfast time! Rooms ok, bathroom walls gross and dirty, shower is crap! It's an okiah hotel but only really for one night staff if you not expecting much!

First off - we only paid £25pp per night, for two nights. Secondly, it was that bad we only stayed one night! It seems this hotel got a great deal on green paint, every wall in the hotel is a pastel light green! as you walk upto the main staircase from reception the stairs go down to a basement level... As already said on here a dated hotel which requires a lot of maintenance and they are struggling to keep up but doing the best they can with what they have. My room was on 2nd floor and perfectly adequate for an overnight stay - even a fully equipped ironing room although this is on the ground floor but again... More

On approaching the Hotel I thought I saw Harry Seacombe in his 'Oliver' costume waiting to meet us as my first impression was that my wife had booked us into a workhouse.Crossing the threshold I changed my mind to hospital or mental institution as the entrance had that standard tiled flooring found in institutions of a certain age and this... Traveller reviews didn't encourage me to look forward to my trip to the paragon. On arrival I was quickly and pleasantly invited to free secure parking and welcomed into a wonderful foyer. The first room was small and not well presented, it was clean but paintwork was tatty and the twin room would have been small for just one single... More

I stayed in this hotel 12-15 years ago when it was the Chamberlain Park, and recently returned for a conference - I was in a twin room on the third floor. Location-wise it's a bit out of the centre of Birmingham though there are buses nearby to New Street and the city centre. The building is attractive in an institutional... More

I stayed in this hotel as part of a conference package last week. I must say, I am not a particularly fussy individual and quite easily pleased so was shocked at my own reaction to this place! Upon arrival, the reception staff were friendly and conference rooms were quite nice. Upon entering my room, on the 4th floor, I was... More

Bad points I was trying to think of something nice to say about the hotel room and I finally decided that the curtains were quite nice! Small poky room that had been refurbished via a thick coat of gloss on everything, headboard, table, radiator etc. Room still smelt of paint, but windows were painted shut. Couldn't get the key out... More

This hotel sets itself up as an contemporary, stylish venue, in an impressive Victorian brick grand building The photos made it seem quite appealing. Interesting to note they only have superior room photos. And yes I must agree the conference room was quite attractive. But that's where it ends. We were here for a weekend conference, and the experience was... More

I was booked into this hotel by an organisation who paid for a conference package. I had requested a double room, but was given a single room. The room has tiny, but newly decorated, in fact it had a terrible paint smell. It was not luxurious but it was clean. As it was too small for my needs I requested... More
