HDV is our chain of choice these days but we found this one just ok. We opted for a studio suite and like other reviewers found the room quite dark and parts of it looking a bit tired. The cleanliness of the bathroom was poor, with dirt in the crevices of the duck board and the corners of the shower... More

This is an excellent location and I like lots of things about the hotel du Vin chain such as the non corporate rooms. They are all a bit quirky and I like that alongside the fabulous showers. I stayed in Harvey's room while in Brum on business and the room was great. Very spacious with a desk to work and... More

The food at the hotel du vin was delicious including dinner and breakfast, however the hotel's dark and grey rooms really let it down. My room was a great size however it was very minimalist and grey which made it fell quite gloomy. It was also very cold and the staff were unable to alter the temperature in the room.... More

Externally, a very nice building in a smarter part of Birmingham City center. However, our main compliant is that the inside is very dark and dull. We appreciate that in this day of increasing energy costs companies are looking to cut back where ever possible. However, this is taking it to the another dimension. Our room (Laphroiag) had two black... More

Spent 2 nights here 28th August and had a really special weekend. This hotel is in a very nice area of Birmingham and in close walking distance to the city centre. Rooms are nice with extremely high ceilings, we had a lovely roll top bath which was heaven after a day walking around. Food in the bistro for both breakfast... More

Probably once stylish but the design of this chain is starting to look a little Cafe Rouge,1980's cliched olde Paris. Sadly I never liked it then and am not keen now. The bath titles all have mould between them and the taps feel worn, as does the main stairway carpet and paint decor. So I guess I should hate it?... More

A group (about 16) of us went for tea. It is served in the conservatory area which is very calm and relaxing. We each had different drinks including champagne and this determined the price we paid. We had four different types of sandwiches with brown and white bread. I was totally impressed that without notice, the chef was able to... More

We had a night away in Birmingham and stayed at this fab hotel. It's in a great location for the city centre, just a 5 minute walk and you're at the Bullring. The hotel's decor is quirky and fun and the rooms are very well appointed. Our room was on the 3rd floor and had a bathroom that was up... More

Rather than get the £50 taxi home thought we'd make a night of it on my wifes birthday (see Adams review for the restaurant). Hotel is the style you expect from HdV - although the lobby is a bit soul less. Rooms great, breakfast great and bar isn't bad (free olives, brooklyn larger and a super whisky selection). I've not... Sunday Roast was one of the best I have ever had . We had a great lunch with 5 friends last week . Starters main & deserts were all to die for . I can't recommend this place enough . The champagne bar is very nice and location of the hotel is in a beautiful area .
