I booked the malmaison as a surprise for my husbands 30th birthday. booked online but eventually after searching their web page decided to go for the luxury double for the price of £109.00 for 1 night only. Then tried calling the spa in order to book a pamper package for my hubby only to have left 5 messages on their voicemail... I have stayed at the Mal a few times on business. I have always found the hotel to be lovely. With Classical music playing quietly in the background when you enter your room, it is truely a great experience. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with a fully stocked mini bar. The only disappointment I felt, was due to the... More

This is a very stylish hotel, perfectly situated for shopping in Birmingham but also great for road and rail links. The food was wonderful, the staff were helpful and I'd stay again when in this city. More

Stayed here quite a few times and it's been consistently very good on each visit. Very nice atmosphere and decor - although a little on the dark side, but I guess that must be what they call mood lighting. Decor could do with a touch up too, still good but a little worn round the corners. Staff have always been... More

Yes it's quite funky, Yes the staff were friendly and Yes the room was spacious and well equipped. However, it didn't really leave as much of an impression on me personaly as it did on my Credit Card. If it was cheaper I'd stay there again, if not, I'd take my chances elsewhere. More

Stayed for one night with my sister for a spot of retail therapy, hotel good location, lovely at the back of the hotel which is on the canal, lots of restaurants and bars. Hotel good value for money, watch the prices in the bar very expensive. More

There was nothing very wrong with this hotel that I could see (although I didn't use the gym, etc.) but I have come to expect something a cut above the average when staying in a Malmaison. This was just a reasonably decent chain hotel - nothing more. This description applies to the rooms (not bad but nothing special), the food... More

I like the Mal brand especially if there is a bargain room deal. And here you get the standard Mal experience, dark rooms, good shower and toiletries, nice touches in room, nice bar and restaurant. Room spacious but the one thing that freaked me out due to location in Mailbox shopping centre was that we had to keep the curtains... More

I stayed here in October 2011 for one night. I found the ambience of the hotel itself to be much nicer than most inner city hotels. It felt quite classy without being pretentious which is nice. The room was clean and comfortable, no complaints. I had dinner in the hotel that evening and my biggest gripe would be that although... More

I've stayed here twice before and had a nice stay then. When I got here the receptionist didn't say hello and just asked for my name. I went to the gym and found that two out of three running machines weren't working.  I went for a drink in the bar and was told I couldn't charge anything to my room... More
