Staff were rude whenever we seen them which was rare, it was my understanding that receptions were manned 24/7, well not the case in this place, it stunk, unless a continental breakfast these days is a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes then breakfast was woeful. Room was disgusting, no plug in sink, bed broken and when you flushed the chain... More

Absolutely shocking! DO NOT GO THERE!!! This hotel bears no resemblance to the posted photos on either their own website or on booking.com. It is filthy, badly maintained, smelly....in all disgusting. Finally - I checked out immediately and demanded a refund after seeing insects run across the bedroom floor. They agreed to refund me and did - but then stole... More

When we arrived to check into the hotel, we walked through the door to be hit by a damp musky smell, reception area was like some kind of corner shop selling anything and everything however there were no breakfast available, when we enquired about the bar we were told it doesnt have one!! We had to ask for cups and... More

We just wanted a basic B+B for an overnight stop. The Kensington looked ok from the website photo's - how wrong could we be!!!! When we pulled up it looked grotty and tired. Shame as it could be lovely. We went in and I agree with another reviewer who mentioned the smell. It does hit you first! Damp, smokey and... More

Don't be fooled by the Les Routiers sign by the door - quality does not exist here! Reception is a joke. On a positive note, the room was warm and the towels and sheets were clean but as a top sheet was used I'm not sure about the duvet cover. Every spring in the mattress could be felt and the... More

Looks quite nice from the outside, but the minute you walk through the door this place is awful. The smell hits you straight away, damp and smoky, and continues throughout the whole hotel. We did only pay £40 for a twin room on a Saturday night stay so we weren't expecting the earth, but the basic minimum of cleanliness would... More

The first thing to hit you is the smell of damp. Never been cleaned for ages, dirty bed linen on the stairs. Rooms cold, damp and dirty. Shared bathroom is disgraceful, bath green (dirty) and no plug, sink taps wouldn't turn off. Carpets threadbare all over. We left, we couldn't stay and I booked elsewhere. Yes it is cheap BUT... What a shock this hotel was! It was dirty and shabby and the facilities were very inadequate. We couldn't get the shower to work. There was no service available after check-in. A note pinned on the office door with a mobile number to ring is NOT Service! Even when we rang that number there was no response for over 3... More

No idea of service, not bothered or concerned. Run down and dirty, Terrible. . . This must be one of the worst hotels in the country. It is the worst place that I have ever stayed in. . . Needs lots of investment and owners who take some pride in their work and service.
