This is the last time I will make the mistake of booking a hotel without reading the reviews first! We were fortunate not to have had as disastrous an experience as other reviewers but it was still up there with one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I chose the hotel purely based on the convenience of... more

It's a challenge finding good value accommodation in Birmingham between the chain hotels in the city centre and the grubby B&Bs strung along main arteries like Hagley Road. I used to rely on cheap deals at the Holiday Inn on Smallbrook Queensway booked through the tourist office but that's currently closed. So I tried this one on the suggestion of... more

I had the misfortune of staying at the Kensington hotel in January this year whilst working in Birmingham and I can honestly say it was the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. I was sharing a room with a collegue and the strange happenings in the night made us too scared to even leave our room. The room... more

I have never experienced anything like this before and wouldn't want to again. The place was unclean, the shower / toilet was seperated by a pathetic looking sliding door that was coming off the hinges. The doors didnt look safe that we feared our belongings would be a target. We were booked in for two nights with work but had... more

After a memorable experience at the kensington, I have decided to write this review as a thank-you for making my stay an excellent one. The hotel itself was a very well kept old fashioned building, inside was very clean and comfortable. The room was tidy and cozy and the breakfast in the morning was great. What made the stay even... more

I am writing this review as I have just read the main reviews on Trip advisor for this hotel and they are very bad. Believe them! I booked a colleague into the hotel through the business that I work for, for a few days' stay. (My administrator rang, and confirmed with the hotel that they would be happy to invoice... more

OK so it has taken me a few months to write this review. But to be honest it was such a [-] experience I was just going to walk away. I decided to review this aweful place since I saw the review by 'mrandmrssmith' of australia. I believe that glowing review was written by the staff of this establishment as... more

Stayed for 2 days on business trip. Awful and rude service especially from receptionist. Was addressed by first name upon arrival and even refused help with maps of Birmingham! Old building with equally old furniture and facilities. Bed lamp was on same switch as ventilation fan in the toilet which drew air from the bar. Disastrously smokey at night when... more
