Stayed here on business for a couple of days and was amazed that such a beautiful hotel is so close to the City Centre. My room 312 was large comfortable with great views over the Church. I ate in the Restaurant on the first night the food was well prepared well presented and very tasty. the second night I decided... More

If you are looking to be greeted with ciggie stubs at front door, heavily stained bedroom carpets, unpleasant rooms then this is the hotel for you. Only reason we stayed after being offered another room which was tired but a bit better was due to its staff. Staff is excellent!!! Too bad the owners are no longer keeping up the... More

Came here for afternoon tea with my son, husband and mother in law. The food was nice, the afternoon tea was better then the lunch served to my husband whose chips were cold. They did do a lovely little sandwich for my very fussy son though and the waiter was very nice to him too. Altogether very pleasant, but nothing... More

My Mother and I stayed here when we went to watch Fleetwood Mac at the LG Arena. We wanted somewhere that wasn't too 'corporate' where we could have afternoon tea on arrival, then make our way to the arena for the show. The afternoon tea was lovely and the dining room was very nice; it was a warm day and... More

Stayed here one night on a business trip with my girlfriend Wednesday 29th July. On arrival all looked good, lovely imposing building full of charm, the room a superior one evidently was nice and clean, comfy with a lovely view over the front of the hotel, began to relax and browse the room service menu, which was limited, but not... Very nice 17th Century building. We stayed in the main house on the 2nd floor (lift only goes to 1st floor). Spacious room with wood panelling and a modern bathroom. Lovely walled gardens with a maze (Shame you can't access the old Chapel at the back). The bar prices were quite steep at £6 for a glass of wine and... More

Just returned home after a lunchtime bar snack at above hotel. The idea was to check out hotel and restaurant prior to booking for a forth coming family celebration, so glad we did. Driving into the car park to see an old shipping container in a corner, very untidy and off putting. Old bathroom fittings etc. stored alongside, not a... More

We booked our Wedding breakfast and reception here over 18 months ago and were so excited to spend our special day in the stunning setting. Everything was catered for wonderfully, however it was clear there is a lack of communication between managers! We had a lot of family travelling down the night before the wedding and we worked closely with... More

Sadly I have to say this was the most awful Sunday lunch I have ever had. Such a shame that things have deteriorated so badly. Ordered the roast beef which was inedible in a pool of congealed gravy, with vegetables already on the plate. Asked for mustard and was given a small packet in my hand to tear open. Standards have... We were infrequent visitors, mainly for dinner, special occasions, including a stay over. It pains me to write this...I took my partner for an anniversary meal last week, and I have to say the standards have slipped. I appreciate there has been a huge change to staff and the menu. The menu didn't offer a wide selection as it did... More
