Stopped overnight here for work. The 'Mailbox' area where it is sited was undergoing major refurbishment so it wasn't that easy to find initially. Nice location though, on the canal. The area has plenty of restaurants (chains) though oddly no pub or coffee shop that I could find (apart from a ??Starbucks in the hotel reception). Hotel was nice enough.... More

Stayed one fateful night with my son and wife. What a serious joke. I was of the impression the Ramada had some kind of class and set standards. Obviously not. Room was small and smelly. Bathroom was terrible with mould. Furniture needed a damn good polish. The "hotel" looked like a glorified B & B. Not really family friendly nor... More

Room was not that clean. Found a cigarette butt behind the curtain and this was a non smoking room. No hairdryer in the room ..We thought the window was open as it was noisy and cold in the room. I was expecting some noise cause of the area but not to the level you.Would expect with the Windows shut. The... More

Nice enough reception but sadly that's where the good stuff stops! Decor throughout the hotel is very tired, evident from the moment you enter the lift. I'm aware it's a central location with nearby bars, however, I didn't expect the noise in the room to be so bad, frequently woken up throughout the night by loud drunken revellers on the... More

I stayed here on Saturday 21st Feb 2015 for one night with my boyfriend. I was throwing him a surprise party for his 30th birthday at Bartons Arms in Aston therefore booked this hotel to keep him out the house. It was fairly cheap (£68.00) and to be honest I would say it isn't really worth that apart from the... More

Considering the price this was a real disappointment. the hotel was shabby, in need of modernisation and a good clean. The manager and my waitress were lovely and professional, the receptionist and other waiting staff were disinterested and provided poor customer service. The Double glazing was rubbish, awake through the night listening to traffic and revelling

Stayed here for one night on business, having stayed elsewhere in Birmingham previously there are much better options nearby at same price. On entering the room there was a smell as if someone had emptied a cheap can of air freshener in the room, the bed was small and uncomfortable, it sunk on the middle and wheels were old one... More

Bed is more like a hammock ! never had such an awful sleep. Room was filthy, no extractor in the bathroom, very muggy, and very poorly lit. Whole place is shabby and very very tired. Right in the middle of the mailbox though so literally a couple of steps to all the bars. Staff pleasant enough. Won't be staying there... More

hotel is in a really poor condition, beds are terrible, corridors have threadbare carpets. staff were very friendly and sympathetic- they must be used to this. The hotel is in dire need of a refurb and is not value for money.

I often come to Birmingham with work and thought I'd try a different hotel this month. Upon arrival I had to wait as no one was at reception (a bit odd for 7pm). I then was given my room key and off I went. As I got out of the lift I noticed a stale smell. When I got into... More
