Stayed for one night while at the Ashes, the hotel needs a serious face lift it looks very tired with stained carpets and old flaking decor. The location is great at the Mailbox for bars and restaurants but I personally wouldn't stay again as there are better hotels that are in this price bracket.

After reading many negative reviews posted by past visitors to the Ramada Hotel at the Mailbox Birmingham, we we very concerned about the Hotel and how it would affect our celebration weekend. They do say expect the worst, and you can be pleasantly surprised, we were, on arrival at the Hotel we were greeted warmly by Reception staff, who were... More

Great location - love the Mailbox - good selection of bars and restaurants. Room 403 over looks the canal which we loved - however the bed left a lot to be desired - the mattress dipped in the middle and the end of the bed poked up - it was like sleeping in a hammock!! Ramada will only be able... More

Having stayed in the hotel for 2 nights for work my sleep was interrupted by the smell of smoke throughout the room and floor, the mattress was incredibly soft and the pillow was dirty with gum stuck to it. My room had a door linking to another, although not the hotels fault, different guests on both nights were incredibly noisy.... More

For such a prime location, you would have thought the hotel would be great.. The reception area was nice and the staff were helpful.. as in previous reviews the state of corridors and carpets were awful..i was expecting my room to be the same but luckily it must have been a refurbed one and it was nice.. it was on... Comfy bed, great location on the canal, loads of bars restaurants within walking distance, great atmosphere. No room service, coffee shop on ground floor. Helpful staff, good spot for the NIA, EASY WALKING TO GET THERE.

We visited Birmingham for my wife's birthday. We were going out for dinner and cocktails so we wanted to stay centrally, so the ramada was the perfect choice. How disappointed were we. The hotel is only busy because of its location. The hotel was scruffy, carpets in the corridors were taped together and thread bare. Furniture was old and scruffy.... More

We stayed one night at the ramada to attend our sons graduation at the nearby university. The entrance lobby is nice but as soon as you get out of the lift the story changes. The carpets and wallpaper in the public areas are disintegrating. The carpets held together with duct tape and the paper peeling off the walls. The key... More

Budget price but absolutely dreadful. Every surface is stained, marked, dented and tatty. The bed is a very unstable double with a cheap twisted duvet, there is fag ash on the corners of the stained carpet and the radiator is hanging off the wall. The staff are pleasant enough but the entire hotel is a disgrace.
