Unfortunately, I think this place is not a hotel, but a fairly shabby B & B. I arrived in the dark and the location looked OK, a residential area. I stood outside for quite a while, having rung the doorbell and waited ages for the proprietor to answer. first impression was poor as the hallway looked shabby. I didn't get... More

I never write reviews but this B&B was appalling. Poor customer service. Dated decor, shabby. Tiny single room. Extremely creaky floorboards throughout the house- I couldn't sleep because as soon as anyone in hotel moved you can hear it! It felt like the people in the room above were going to fall through and land on me. Cheap food products... More

This is a B&B. We had to share a bathroom (which was very run down and dirty). The owners were nice enough when we arrived. Our rooms were dated and not very comfortable. We were not expecting luxury at the price we paid but I can't help but feel we would have had a much better stay anywhere else.

To start with this hotel's advert about rooms with showers is misleading, all the bathrooms and showers which by the way are in a filthy and shabby state are shared. No obvious cleaning materials are available either. The room was the size of a cupboard, the blind was broken so the light came in early in the morning. The mattress... More

This review is simply not true , Why is it that some people get great satisfaction in slagging off others, when they think that they can do it without any come back on themselves. We try very had to please our guest and to rectify any problems as and when they occur. Our breakfasts are freshly cooked to order unlike in... More

I booked this hotel as I was providing 3 days of training to a local business and it was the nearest place I could find to the venue I was training at. First impressions were not very welcoming. The woman who greeted me was standoffish and I did not feel at all like a valued guest. The room was shabby... More

We booked the Awentsbury to be near to our student daughter living in Selly Oak - and the location was great for that. However, that was as good as it got. We arrived at 10pm having phoned ahead, to find the porch door open but no doorbell evident. Several fruitless attempts at knocking on the door before a helpful chap... More

I turned up on a wet Sunday night after a 4 hour drive, I was met by the owner who seemed to be on a different planet, the room I was assigned was smaller than a prison cell, I had requested an on suite bathroom, which wasn't obvious to start, only after you opened a bi-fold door was the sink... Lovely stay. Very comfy bed. Great price. Man at reception lovely. Woman at bfast however. Attitude stinks! We paid £18 for 3 full bfst (sausage, egg, tomato, beans & egg). My sister & I only wanted 3 items of bfast menu and I asked for an extra egg. The woman muttered 'we dont usually do that' in which I immediately replied 'sorry?' She... More

I stayed at The Awenstbury to visit the University and the Bullring for some shopping. The hotel is in beautiful surroundings next to a church in a very peaceful neighbourhood. The room was simple but very clean and the bed comfortable. The hotel was a little old fashioned however this is to my taste as I get bored of bland... More

When we first arrived at this hotel, I thought booking.com must have had an error in its database and we had accidentally booked a hotel that had been closed down. The overgrown shabby garden the dilapidated garages and firmly locked front door were all suggestive of abandonment. However, on noticing the large box of Kellogg’s cornflakes in a window, I... More
