The Awentsbury was pretty cheap and did the job for me. I was staying in town for one night to visit some friends, and needed a bed. I didn't get a particularly comfortable one but my stay wasn't the horror show some other reviewers here evidently had. The wifi worked fine and the staff were perfectly pleasant.

The bedroom was awful, mattress was rotten, couldn't sleep at all. The towels was dirty and breakfast was basic. The staff was not very friendly and would not recommend to go there again. This is old fashioned and need update to modernisation. Shower room was tiny in twin bedroom. I would not recommend for anyone who don't like old fashion... More

This was just an overall poor experience. The hotel was locked when we arrived mid afternoon and looked derelict. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable but service very poor. Would never stay here again.

It was okay - some of the reviews are a bit harsh. I wouldn't recommend it for a holiday, but if you need a reasonably cheap place to stay in that part of Birmingham - it's fine. The hotel looks a little tired, although it's a lovely building. My room (a single en suite) was quite small but had everything... More

I've stayed in some ropey places in my time and normally I'd just suck it up and get on with it but this one really did cross a line. Well lines really!! I chose this 'hotel'; (it's not it's a B&B and a terrible one at that) because it is very close to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where I am... More

Firstly driving up the hill to get to this hotel gave me great expectation, but welcomed by unsurfaced road, dying plants that looked unkempt & the main door having wood chipped off it made me feel strange about my stay & then walking in made it a little better until i discovered how dusty the Red Carpet the hotel was... My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Awentsbury Hotel and found the hotel, the room, the grounds, and the area quite attractive and pleasant. Our room was spacious with large windows for light and fresh air as well as being able to hear the birds chirping. Our room was en suite which we prefer and had everything we... More

This place is worse than Fawlty towers. On arriving you are greeted with what should have been once a nice hotel. In a lovely area with the possibilities of a nice garden. Unfortunately that is where it stops. The lady owner has extremely poor communication skills and it was trying to get blood out of a stone where the shower... More

I booked this hotel because it was the only one near an event I was attending so I didn't check out the reviews first and I really wish I'd just forked out the money to stay somewhere central and paid for a taxi because this is one of the worst hotels I've ever had the misfortune to stay in. When... More

There was a slight delay in dealing with this guest as two separate guest had checked in at the same time . We have to mention payment at check in as so many guests who book on line and give their card details assume that the room is prepaid. This is beyond our control and booking.com and others should make... More
