Standard rooms are dire. If you must stay here, upgrade to an Executive room, but don't pay more than £50 per night room only. That rate can be had if you stay 2 nights. One night will cost you £100!! The rack rate is nearly £150, but I don't think they dare to charge that price ever.... Ask for a... more

Check in was satisfactory. As a platinum Priority Club member I was advised that no executive rooms were available for a comp upgrade. They compensated by leaving me a Mars bar in my room, the promised water never did materialise though. The room I was allocated was OK and like the reception and bar areas seemed quite modern. The walk... more

Reception and bar area modernised- relaxing but a tad cold! Bar food took an eternity even though not many diners in the bar and restaurant Hotel is reasonable aged so walk to room and room itself not modernised but this is not a negative. It is a good hotel for the price and one that I would stay at again.... more

I stayed here on a business trip. My room was down a warren of corridors and seemingly down some service stairs. The roof of the bathroom was heavily speckled with damp. The entire room was worn out and grimy. Tiles were cracked. Used room service plates were left in the corridor for a long time (hours). I asked for an... more

A hundred of us paid £25 each for a Christmas party night on 18th December. On arrival we waited in the bar to be seated but the venue had obviously overbooked as there were not enough tables. As people started queuing, we gradually realised that we had to get our own starters-at no time where we told this! The same proceedure for... more

Me and my fellow colleagues paid £24.50 a head to have our three course Christmas meal at the Holiday Inn, M6 Great Barr. The DJ's supplied for our Christmas party turned up late and proceeded to stare while we ate our food. On to the food, my colleagues who opted for the Pate starter were particularly unimpressed with the lack... more

The hotel is well located if you want to be close to the M6 - so for a conference it's fine but not if you want a base for Birmingham city centre. The building is quite old and the heating is very poor. We were freezing all weekend. Whether in the bedrooms, in the conference rooms, in the restaurant, in... more

Check-in very smooth, but our room was miles away down drab corridors with dingy painted doors. We booked an executive room. Not quite sure what denotes this title other than a plaque on the door. Two small bottles of water was supplied and replaced the following day. We had one dressing gown and requested another but were informed only one... more

When arriving at the hotel there is plenty of parking and the location in very convenient, just by the M6. The service was satisfactory; staff were polite and generally friendly although I was offered a restaurant reservation when I checked in only to find later on that the restaurant was closed for the day. The bar food was fine but... more
