I arrived at 18:45 which is a pretty normal time to arrive at a hotel and was greeted by a sign on reception advising me that the receptionist was away and to take a seat and they would be back "momentarily". Having just completed a 3 hour journey, I wanted to get to my room, go to the loo and... More

We stayed at the Plough and Harrow for 1 night and we had a problem with the taps in the bathroom, the management (David) came quickly, realised there was a problem, he was very apologetic and moved us to another room, even carrying our bags. To make up for the experience, they gave us a complimentary meal in the restaurant... More

We wanted to go to Cadbury World and found a deal on Google for a night in the Plough and Harrow Hotel with a family room, afternoon tea, breakfast and a family ticket for Cadbury World for £89. The hotel entrance and reception is lovely but our family room was quite a distance from the reception and restaurant. If you... More

We stayed here as part of the cadbury world package and stayed an extra night. Room was adequate though at the other side of building in an adjoining block. Bit of a trek. Having read previous reviews about the decor I would agree and in our room carpet had definitely seen better days...probably when hotel was built. In the room... More

Stayed for one night on business in July. Hotel is in Birmingham City Centre, car parking is on site and included. Check in was quick and easy. The hotel Is a little dated but actually quite comfortable, the room was large in size and the bed was comfy, one thing I thought was strange was the fact that the hotel... More

We had a very comfortable stay here, with very friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Beautiful old inn with lovely Art Deco style furnishings but it is in great need of a refurb. Though I do understand there is a refurbishment program in progress. The food is great, although the waiter service rather slow. We had a fab family suite with... More

They didn't have the family room available that we had booked, we had to wait for an adjoining room, then halfway down the corridor we were chased after by the receptionist who said that that room was full and gave us a key for another room (family room this time!), lift didn't work, hand dryers didn't work, tv remote didn't... Thank you very much for taking the time to write although a little confused re the lift as we dont have a passenger lift. Re the Breakfast this is normally served plated but when very busy we will serve a buffet breakfast. As opposed to just putting out 100 sausages for example at 7am and leaving them there until 9... Just got back from a 2 night stay which included an afternoon tea. First impressions when pulling in to car park very good, lovely old building with lots of character (plaque informed us that Tolkien stayed here too). Checking in simple, obvious evidence of a wedding about to occur. Mine field finding room through corridors and staircases which smelt fusty... More

We (my wife, 9 year old daughter and I) stayed as part of a deal we got that included Cadbury's world. Rooms and building are very old (over 300 years old), so there is the odd creak here and there, but the building is full of character. Although old, they are very clean. We had adjoining rooms with internal door.... More

Stayed here as part of a wedding party. Lovely sandstone building. Had a corner bedroom at the front of the hotel. Triple glazing blocked noise from the road effectively. Lovely light airy room in the day.
